Most legible Daytona?

Your thoughts on most legible Daytona would be welcome. PM or steel.

I gifted my oldest son his favorite grail watch. My ex white Dial ceramic Daytona.
I figured among other things, he would wear it a lot more than me, and it would at least stay in the family. It's beautiful but I get frustrated not seeing the time at a fast glance without my reading glasses. Most other watches I can read the time easily without any aid.

I still love the Daytona and was wondering out of experience which one, if any, can be easily read.

None of the modern Daytonas are great for legibility. That's just not their strong point, especially in low light (still beautiful/cool, though).

I've owned both the white and black Daytona-Cs (twice each) and the WG Daytona on Oysterflex (twice). Of those three, the best for legibility for me, in order: WG, white and black.

I now own a black 16520 and white/silver 6263, both of which have better legibility than modern Daytonas for some reason. Something to do with the design of the hands and the sub-dials. What's surprising is that even though it's smaller, the old 6263 has the best legibility of any of them.

That’s always kept me away from chronographs in general ... just not as legible as others.

I’ve never had a problem reading the time on this one but frankly I think it’s so good looking it just doesn’t matter to me lol!

I like my 116523 with the white racing dial.

The yellow gold hands against the white dial/black sundials I find very easy to read. Plus the white/back lines on the hands offer nice contrast against the sundials.

Both of mine are truly horrible to read in anything other than perfect direct light

All of the above pics seem quite hard to read. Kind of amazing that such a highly regarded watch (and a very expensive one at that) can be so bad at functionally doing the one thing they’re supposed to do.

I've no issue reading either of mine, fwiw. I had more of a problem but not so much as to make it illegible (except in very low light situations) with my black dial 116500. I think lighter dials are easier to read than darker ones.

Well, in bright light, it's easy to tell the time! It's low light that's often the problem, but the same could be said for a lot of watches.

I'll admit it can be a little annoying at times, but the trade-off is worth it. Just feels and looks so good on the wrist.
