Look What Rolex Did

Here’s a photo of the bezel of my new Sub.
There’s something that Rolex did with the new Sub that probably 99.9% of owners don’t know about. It only came to my attention because of an article that I read yesterday titled something like, “things you didn’t know about the new Submariner”.
Check out the photo below and look at the numbers 50 and 10 on the bezel. See how the top of the 5 and top of the 1 are ever so slightly further away from the zero than at the bottom. The difference is very slight, but it’s there.
Someone who noticed this might think it’s a design flaw but in fact was done purposely by Rolex to give the illusion of the numbers curving to coincide with the curve of the bezel.
That’s just incredible attention to detail and just like the mindset of Rolex to do something to trick the eye that in the great majority of instances only they know about.

It’s there. Expand the photo and give it another look.
It must be true. I read it on the internet.

Thanks for that and I can see it now but it is barely noticeable. Is that only for the newer SUBs because I don't see it on my TT Bluesy Sub.

I see it now but of course it it - it’s a round bezel.

On square bezel would look this.

Nice find for the new Sub
The BLRO and CHNR also have these slightly tilted numbers at the bottom of the 10,12,14,....22. Afraid to be part of your 0,1 %. The numbers on the SD43 don't show that.
PS: visible w/o a loupe

But they will change it slightly in a year and people will call it a Mk2 bezel ... Geez!

I read that if you spin the bezel really really fast, the numbers will blur and then focus to read, "I Buried Omega."

It’s also noticeable on the Explorer 216570 bezel too.

And there was me thinking that I knew my watches... I’ve got both the new sub and a polar explorer and I’ve never even noticed...

I love it when Rolex does stuff like this. A lot of people take issue with the asymmetrical lugs on the SS Daytona, but it's one of my favorite details because of the thought that went into the design.
