Question about 64.00.02 box

Hi! Around 15 years ago I bought a 2002 16710 fullset. Outer box with 16710 sticker and original receipt.

Watched a Youtube video about old boxes being fake, and decided to look at mine. Noticed this:

Have I owned a fake box all these years? I have never seen 64.00.02 with the "montres" writing before, only 68.00.02. I also have several 64.00.02 boxes with the correct writing to compare with. I am no box expert, but I can see no errors with this box when comparing it to the other ones, it even has the correct "smell", if you know what I mean. I've serviced the watch several times over the years, and when I bought it I had my AD look at the full set without any comments.

But 64.00.02 has never existed with the "montres rolex sa geneve suisse" writing? I've only seen that on 68.00.02. Or could it be an error print?

The quality of yours looks way above the usual fake boxes seen in this style. Probably a regional variation, or some other explanation. The outer boxes are also easy to spot, very oversaturated colours.

15 years ago people were not as nuts about a "full set" as they are today. Your box looks nicer and better made than any fake box I've ever seen.

Wow a “montres rolex sa geneve suisse" 64.00.02 error box. That must be an extra 1000.

I agree with others, the box looks authentic and in great condition.

Having the outer box would strengthen the authenticity.

I have everything, and the outer box even has a white faded 16710 sticker, and a small black dot.

So you've seen a 64.00.02 with montres on the back? Do you perhaps have one, because I have never seen it before.

They all look like this:

I think you are seriously over thinking this - the box looks fine and with the c-cup holder is appropriate for 2002. Packaging was no doubt made by a variety of suppliers so I really wouldn’t worry.

Your Rolex box looks genuine.

I have to rummage around but I think I have one too somewhere. I have lots of vintage boxes that I bought from sellers in Japan.

But nevertheless if you do a search, they are out there.

That's the normal one mate, check my first post. I've searched for 1 week without being able to find the one with Montres first, unless it's a 68.00.42. The post you responded to is the "normal" 64.00.02.

Can't wait for flurry of INCOMING BOX, Would you trade 2 boxes for this one box, and Are Rolex boxes a good investment? threads!

And, of course, the inevitable ADs selling boxes out the backdoor to greys?

You have been told by several of the respected members here that your box is fine.

Okay I missed that subtlety. I found my 64.00.02. It is like all the others and not like yours. I also included another vintage box, which has the Montres. Maybe you have a fluke that was produced like the other boxes or a rare one
