Rolex may still release more watches this year

What do you think? I can't believe that's it for Rolex releases this year. Surly some more coming like a 50th anniversary Explorer II later this year, and some discontinuations or updates on the Air King, and Milgauss.

I highly doubt it since this is the only trade show they are attending this year.

I just can't believe Rolex releasing only dials and bracelets this year, while practically everyone is releasing very exciting models.

I, too, suspect they will release a 50th anniversary Explorer II later this year. We shall see!

I've seen some cases of denial of reality before, but this takes the cake.

No one knows what Rolex will do.

They have broken the release cycle to introduce new models in the past, I seem to recall, but there's no guarantee that they will and as far as a revamp of the catalog to the degree that is being suggested here is as implausible as anything I can think of.

The best course is to accept the releases that occurred yesterday and live with it.

If Rolex decides later that they will cut your least favorite watch or release your most desired reconfiguration or new model, it will be icing on the cake.

No vote.

Rolex isn't that big on anniversary editions, at least not nearly as much as other makers so I think this week was it for the Explorer II.

My prediction before the end of 2021 is a 41mm Explorer. That 36mm version seems to register with many but makes no sense as a replacement for the 39mm. Maybe we'll even see a companion white one since the white 39mm OP went away.

While I'm at it, my crystal ball says 2022 brings a less schizophrenic AK dial and more basic, less weird Milgauss dial colors.

It’s not unheard of for Rolex to suddenly stop production of a certain model.

The black GMT II was suddenly discontinued in May of 2019. After Basel announcements.

I am not holding my breath, but I am still hoping for a green GMT/daylight hand and lettering addition to the Explorer II as an anniversary surprise later in the year. Just to psych everyone out...

This thread equals stages of grief...
Right now we're in shock and denial...by tomorrow we should be seeing some anger and guilt. By next week we'll cycle through to acceptance.
You should have been around for when Rolex finally released the BLRO, but only in white gold. I think we still have members who we've never heard of again.

It's just a watch people and it basically serves the same purpose as a stick in the dirt, only the stick doesn't have chromalight to work at night.

That's basically the equivalent of a car show. And that's next week, all you're gonna see is the watches they just released but in the metal.

Do you have proof for this? I doubt it's true.
You mean it was present at the Baselworld in March and then suddenly disappeared? No way

No. The GMT 116710LN was discontinued during Baselworld 2019 itself when they upgraded movements. It's in every baselworld report. You can't fake such media reported item.

So what you think Rolex is doing by making new case, dial and bracelet for 226570? Is that only for few weeks of production and there's another replacement coming? Lol.

This

As we've seen time and time again, Rolex will do whatever Rolex wants to do and on whatever timescale they want to do it, completely irrespective of what "fans" want them to do.

Personally I can't remotely imagine they'd do anything additional for the Exp II, as it's not like they somehow forgot it was the 50th anniversary this year! Considering that Rolex develops their watches with all the speed of tectonic plate movement, I think it's obvious that they've made their microscopic changes to it and that'll be it for the foreseeable as far as that model is concerned.

Whether they'll release any additional watches until this time next year.... who knows. Crystal ball time.
