On the list, AD display, dial/bracelet swap and your thoughts.

Hi folks.

Just managed to get on the list with my AD for the rose gold sky dweller rhodium dial. She had one person ahead of me and still expect it will take 1-2 years ( go figure ).

While I was there ( to get my skyd resized ) I asked them if it was possible to get the dial changed from black to blue, she checked and said yes to my surprise. It has to be swapped they will keep the black and it has to go to Geneva. She said it will take 8 weeks and cost approximately 2k euro. What do you guys think about the price ? Is that about what it costs ?

I also asked for the jubilee bracelet and she said that won’t be a problem we change it here for you and it’s not a swap like the dial but again around 2k euro. Anyone with experience of bracelet changes that can confirm the price.

All the prices she gave were estimates.. so yeah.

Finally she had these in the display cases, and I’ve been pondering if I should swap my SS black for the TT white dial?
Not an option if I can get them to swap my dial to blue.
But if not what do you guys think ? Nay or yay ?

Some pictures of my watch, and the ones they had:

As much as the blue dial is followed, I think the Black and the White dials are just as stunning. I would keep what you have and MAYBE when the RG Rhodium/Slate comes in then consider switching the dial out since you would have two dark dial SkyD's at that point.

I hear you, but I don’t do it for the hype.
I forgot to mention something about myself, I’m a person that likes the bling factor and not so the subdued look (something is wrong with me). Hence pondering the swap for the TT white.

Hard decisions...

If it's bling you want then go all gold.

Yes, that’s why I’m on the list for the RG :)

But that won’t happen for 2 years

So maybe the question is :

1. Blue dial jubilee
2. TT white dial

?

How much more for a RG SkyD from a grey market dealer? Why wait for almost 2 years? That’s crazy.
And I think €2,000 and a two month wait for a dial you’re just swapping is obscene

Yeah it doesn’t seem right, I think she just made that up and actually said it’s approximate. She said they won’t get a price until Rolex has the watch in Geneva and open it up.. there shouldn’t be any additional costs as the watch is brand new. Got it on the 4th of April. I hope someone can come along and give a more realistic price, 2000 sounds obscene as you say.

Grey RG is about 3k euro above retail. Also I rather wait, I’m not that fond of the Grey market.

wow if dial and bracelet changes are possible, then i am rushing to my AD for a silver and black OP36 (they've been sitting there for a week) and have them swap the dial to a coral red + turquoise dial and install the 214270 bracelet onto them..

anything but grey dealer/bundling for the perfect one right away.

Rolex won’t swap dials without a service so despite your watch being brand new, I imagine this is where the bulk of the costs come from.

Not a change I’d personally make regardless of cost, id just buy one of their OPs instead if I wanted some color/bling

Ah that makes sense with the price then.
But how do you service something that doesn’t need a service :)

Some people have been able to have RSC swap dials without requiring a full service; friend is sending a 2020 DD40 to RSC Dallas for a dial swap and only has to pay for new dial and installation

Call rsc and ask. Would be very surprised if rsc would swap a black to blue. Sounds like more , my AD/SA said.

Where do you find the number to European RSC?

I was told about EUR 1,600 for oyster bracelet for the GMTs. And same story - you can keep both bracelets.
So around EUR 2K for jubilee is okay I think.

They won't, I'm afraid.

The blue Sky Dweller dial is exchange only - OP will end up disappointed.

In the USA. Rsc def will not swap a ss skyd dial. Dj. Dd etc is a totally different story.

Op. Not sure where you are located but there are 3 ad’s in Stockholm. I would call another ad and see what they say. They can also tell you what the closest rsc is for you.

Definitely check directly with closest RSC.

For US RSC, I think I saw some member tried to swap a dial on platinum DD 40 and was successful for swapping.

It needs to be sent to Geneva they told me 2 different European ad’s in Sweden and Holland they keep the dial but they insist it’s possible. Let’s see by mid summer when I turn it in.

Still would like a number to Geneva to find out myself, would suck to send it away for 8 weeks and get it back with the same dial and a bill.

Yeah it seems fair enough.
Thnx for the info.

2k for the dial seems excessive though.

Sounds like a bargain. Blue trades for 6-8 k over black. Update us OP what rsc says if you don’t mind . They are very clear in States with policy of no disl change on sky d ss or ss Daytona.

There are certain watches that are regarded by Rolex as "premium" dials and are "exchange" only - i.e. same dial in (presumably damaged), same dial out. These include blue dial SkyDweller, Green dial daytona and meteorite GST. There may be others but you can apparently swap dials on a Playtona, DD and many other top models too as they're all regarded "equal".

Strange if true , as if they want to keep the grey market hype up

I can tell you that Rolex officially told me where I live in London that you cannot change w black to a blue I asked them myself around a month ago.

Good luck to you if you get it done!

Op - I have a feeling ad sa. “ thinks you can because they have seen dial changes with no problem for dd and dj. Would be great if you can get Rsc to do it but highly doubt they will. Sounds like U.K. and USA policies are the same and I Woukd assume Eu is also the same.
