31mm hard to get according to ADs

Been on the lookout for a MOP 31mm datejust for my wife and texted some of my AD contacts. All mentioned they have no stock for it and have zero stock for fluted 31mm datejust in steel/white gold or steel/rosegold even in other dial configurations.

Seriously?

Haha, good point! Hot stock is down, bundling stock is down too.

That’s the same situation across the border too. Not surprised that it’s even worse in SG considering the watch market there is stronger. Waiting for the day for Rolex AD to be empty with ZERO inventory. We are almost reaching that stage.

I was able to get a 31DJ last November just by telling them what I wanted and waited 2 weeks. This was the pink dial, fluted bezel on jubilee. My AD says for anything other than steel sports and DJ41 models they can basically order one from Rolex. They told me that they can check and see if Rolex has one they can just send and if that was the case would be a few weeks and if Rolex didn't have one ready to go they could make one and it would be 6-8 weeks. Obviously YMMV but this worked out great for me.

I was visiting an AD yesterday and saw one in the case. 31mm fluted on oyster, white dial with sticks.

DJ stock is available at UK AD's but you need a decent store manager willing to get it from a fellow sister store's stock in another location.

One store said a 5 month wait for a DJ36 126231 fluted roman dial, but another AD of the same group helped out to aquire the piece in 10 days!

Part of me felt the first store was playing games and probably wanted to wait for a potential price increase later in the year.

I went into a local AD in late January, looking for a SS 41 Sub for myself and also a 31mm DJ for my wife. I got the Sub about a month ago, but still waiting for the DJ. I definitely would have thought it would be the other way around.

Note: there is a 31mm DJ at my AD that has been in the case for a while, it is similar to what my wife wants except it has the dial with roman numerals and she really wants the stick dial. It will show up eventually.

Two tone dj31 is tough to source. If u want the aubergine / MOP dial, it’d be quite a wait.
Each AD gets 2-3 TT dj31 each month, but the MOP probably every 3mth or so

Congrats on the BLRO. As for a 1 year wait for a DJ41... is it the blue dial? Any other dial should be a shorter wait.

That's exactly what my AD told us when my wife found the watch she wanted two weeks ago. Her told her if there was a different dial color or configuration to just let him know and with OP and DJ models they can order anything we want. You just have to wait for it, which could be months, but we'll eventually get it. Lucky for us the one she wanted was right there in stock.

That's why I don't understand why someone would pay over retail for these particular models. Clearly a lot of people just can't wait the time it might take to get something that they were perfectly fine not having before.

Hi Mendota, I thought you couldn’t order the colored OP’s? I’m most interested in the 36mm.

Datejust 31s in steel were updated to 55hours recently. While not hotstuff to some, new watches are hard..

Someone in another thread wrote that it might depend on your AD and if you have walked in off the street or if they have some experience with you as a customer. I'm not sure. In my case, I've been emailing with the sales person since October for a sub. He got me an EZLink for my 36mm OP and while we were there picking it up my wife saw the 34mm OP. That's when he said if she didn't like that color she should go online and configure the watch to her liking, or configure a Datejust, and then let him know the specs and he would order it for her.

I didn't ask about 36mm since she was looking at 34.

This is how I got my 36dj. Took 6 weeks to arrive. No history with the AD.

Bro, do you even AD in 2021.....it's a barren desert. The watch you want is because you saw it based on your research not because it was on display and caught your eye.
Everything is damn near in demand, and is purchased by most based on fomo.
At this rate a Rolex AD will be a place you go to look at a catalog and ask if you can order, sight unseen, complete bs.
I'm happily settling into a state where I dont want any other Rolex watch.

Rolex Orlando millennium mall has 2 ladies watches in the window showcase, nothing in store at all 3 staff and a security guard. It must be so boring to work there at the moment.

Bro the market in SG evolve too fast already... even tudors are flying off the shelves.... at some ADs you have more rolex half gold than Tudor.... MOP should be easier to get.

When the 31mm DJ got updated last year, I got my wife a dark grey dial diamond dial steel/white gold combo and it took less than a month to get it delivered. AD out of FL. I had no problems getting it.
