What would you do?

I've been waiting for DavidSw to source a watch for a few weeks on platinum. He said once he will get one he will let me know (2 weeks but I've waited a month). Since then the price has jump 10-15k since it has been discontinued. I can continue to wait not sure how long it is and no sales tax on the purchase since I am out of state which is about 5k in savings (the price of the watch may go up) or I purchase from Timepiece Gentlemen immediately (current market value + tax). What would you do?

Well if you keep waiting price will either stay the same or keep climbing; David will probably sell it to you at a revised price based on the price he pays for it when he’s able to source it. If you want it no matter what prob better to buy it now rather than later

In this price range I would get my butt on a flight to Dallas and buy it in person to save myself a lot of heartache if the watch is not what you want either due to model or condition. David can only sell it after he sources it at market rates.

5k is no small change... No other out of state sellers you can source the Platinum model from? Have you checked chrono24 as well?

I was going to buy pre-owned but now its only a 1-2 grand difference so I might as well go new. But I do regretting not buying sooner prior to the new releases. This watch was under retail forever until it being discontinued. IT was a sleeper. Not anymore.

Sales tax is indeed a factor — as it will impact your OTD price. If you have to pay another $5,000... you might want to source it in the manner whereby you can “avoid” paying the sales tax.

A person like DavidSW should have no problem sourcing a watch. Maybe just maybe he is holding on to it to charge you more later? I say just get it where you can at the current market price..

Everyone says he awesome and go to him to source a watch. But he keeps on telling me when I get one in stock he will let me know. Ya, I am wondering why it is taking him so long. What you are said makes so much sense! If this is the case what would you do?

If you've been following the Timepiece Gentleman on youtube, you would see that there is absolutely no shortage of these pieces. They can pretty much source one within 24 hours at any given time.

If he doesn't have one for you yet, the market just isn't at a price where he's making profit on the quote you were given.

The longer you wait, the less likely it is you're ever going to get one at the current market price.

When I contacted TG they made a phone call and within mins. they could source it. Your right this watch should be easily available. It's the 228206 quadrant dial. Why would he quote me if he no desire to sell at the moment?

I got my RG DD40 from Jaztime. Price might change from price listed on website based on availability but they had the lowest price. It took them one day to find my watch from a dealer in NY.

Just buy it now from whoever has it cheaper where you can go and see it. Who cares if it’s from David. The whole point of a grey is to miss the waiting lists.

In that price range, I'd never buy except from an AD. But I've never seen a watch I couldn't live without.

if its really what you want, at that price, id go to an AD. This is the type of piece to start a relationship with an AD if possible... If you have to have it now, then thats a different story. Good luck. i saw one a few months ago, but long gone now.

I would have but not available in my area and they wouldn’t find a AD that has it for me.

DD40 with quadrant dial? Nice watch; there must be one around. Worth calling around for and picking it up in person if possible!!!

A person like DSW would not play those kind of games. Why attribute bad motives when you lack any first hand and info?

You either want to buy a watch or you don't.

Just go buy the watch. I’ve bought from DavidSW, who probly sells 100s watches / month. He’s not holding on to the very common watch you want to make a few bucks off you.
