Make sure that the glass on the cyclops connects to the crystal cleanly. Have somebody look at the movement. I know you can't do all that on an Ebay auction - that is why I would recommend that you just don't do it. Unless, you know the guy that is selling it. Get references, talk on the phone, verify address - verify employment - ask for a picture of the watch with that day's front page of the local newspaper (compare it to front page - can be found easily on Google. Get him or her to take a picture with their Passport (all of the numbers are do not have to show). Take precautions. There is ton of junk to buy out there - Question is why do it? I know it is tempting and we ALL know how much we like having a PAM. In my opinion - It would be worth waiting - saving and going to an AD - buying the real thing - not spending the "good" money after bad sort of thing. If you get it from an AD or even the Boutique you will know that it is genuine. Good Luck!

Mike, look at the crown guard lever...lever not even flush with crown guard. Genuine Panerai ones will have Perfect fit,and flush with crown guard...the bezel and the dial all look so FAKE.
This grade of FAKE is less than a hundred bucks on the internet...pls withdraw your bid,or cancel it.

Thanks guys. I have decided to pull out bidding for that one. This is why you smart guys are so helpful, experts of Panerai watches.
I want a Pam so much guys!! There's no Pam AD in my town. And I'm too busy to travel. What about this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=320372103583 Fake or genuine? I think this one is a real Pam. However it's just 42mm. I would prefer 44mm or 45mm. What do you think? Greatly appreciate! Mike |

you should try all sizes of Panerai on somehow before you buy in my opinion. That may be tough because there is not a vendor in your area. Most on here would agree that 44mm is the way to go. Some on here would argue that you simply cannot go wrong with 45 or 47mm
Not too many people jumping in line for the 40mm - 60mm - not so sure on the 42mm - you should really check it out in person. Maybe post on here and p.com that you would like some help and perhaps there is someone willing to meet you for a drink or lunch that owns a PAM. Certainly a drink or lunch would be less expensive than buying something you don't like... Just a thought. The Risti community is very helpful and generous - They will of course take precautions but, it is a truly excellent group of people. Good Luck!

Yes, I'm from Penang, Malaysia. Because of the nature of my business, I'm can't leave this island and it has been stuck for more than 4 years now. Rolex watches are plentiful, there's 2 ADs and I own 2 too.
But to own a (pre owned) Pam ... guess I have to source on ebay. It's risky and not smart, I know. I'm running out of options here. Any good advice? Mike |

I see you from Penang, beautiful island of Malaysia! Mike, there are afew Pam ADs in KL...seriously i hope you will find time and drive to KL AD to buy your first panny. Before you do,decide which you would like to own first and give a call to the ADs in KL. I brought my first panny from my local AD it was a great experience!

Hi Mike,
The trip to KL is only 3 1/2 hours so come down if you can. I do suggest you call up the ADs in KL if you're serious in getting a new one. You can also try the few Pre-owned dealers in KL. If you have trouble getting a PAM reserved from Cortina, let me know, I see if I can help you out. |

You've been scammed too, huh??? Wow, the picture of my avatar, that's how I would look like if I ever discovered that the Pam I bought turns out to be a FAKE!!!
Will check out Panerisiti (thanks to Jackson). Cortina Penang could help (to ship from KL) but says production is always very limited and ask for premium over retail price. Would like to get a preowned first before going for a brand new. Any preowned Pam 90 in S'pore for sale? |
