I passed on a Daytona

I got the call last night that my SA had a white gold Daytona on Oysterflex for me. I went in today and didn’t love it. I thought I would and have been lusting after this watch since release, but it didn’t speak to me so I passed. I prefer my sub on the wrist. Am I crazy?

Good point. $30k reasons not to buy what you don’t. Also could not bring myself to flip. I’ve worked with my AD for years to get access to these types of offers.

Did you read his post at all? Where does he say that?

Good for you OP. You're not crazy if you didn't love it. I love mine, but not everything is for everyone.

did the SA faint from the shock of someone passing on a Daytona in these times?

it's great that you are sticking to what speaks to you

I have been offered a Milgauss, Airking, and Yachtmaster rhodium dial this year and have passed on all of them. Why, because I don’t like those models so only buy what you like!

You would have been crazy to buy something you didn't want.

Sorry I know it is personal but may I know if one of the reasons would be oysterflex? I love the white gold daytona but just the oyster flex.....

I've always admired a Daytona for what they are, and find them to be attractive watches, but when I tried a buddy's on, it fell flat. I think I'm just not a chrono guy...? My GMT II Pepsi just feels natural and fits my style better.

Good for you for passing on it. Only buy what you really love.

This is the most rational thread I've ever read. I hope your AD offers you a sweet Sub or GMT in the future.

I did the same with the white ceramic Daytona. No regrets.

No; you're not crazy. In my book, you're very sensible. Don't spend big bucks on something you won't wear.

Make sure you make it clear with you AD though. Be like "Hey, I'm not flipping this one, so put me in line for the X".

I have other chrono watches which may be the issue. My current rotation is pretty firm on Sub, Milgauss, BB58, and my PAM. Already have a chronomat and aqua terra chrono sitting idle…

Good for you to pass on something you don't love. What's next on the list? Will the SA get you something different?

Yes! He totally understood and was surprised I didn’t just take it to flip it even though he knows me. I would like to try to get it in rose or yellow with black face, or on a full bracelet version vs OF.

Otherwise it’s a Pepsi but I’m not a cyclops fan..

You're young; trust me, someday you'll really appreciate the date wheel and cyclops.

So far I’ve passed on a Daytona, Milgauss, GMT and now I’m looking to get on the list for a Milgauss and maybe a GMT. Just how it goes! don’t stress over flipping it’s not worth the heartache.

I don’t like em either but you sirmade a big mistake. You likely would’ve grown to love it. Buy what makes sense economically long term. Not what you love, as that changes over time.

Makes sense--if you don't like it, you don't like. And it's not like they won't be able to sell it and make their profit from someone else.
