How does the platinum Daytona look in general?

I see so many different looks of this watch that it's hard to tell what it generally looks like.

In some lighting it seems like it has a nice ice blue dial and chest nut brown.

But in other lighting the dial and bezel insert seem washed out and not particularly striking.

How does it look in most lighting? Cause it seems to look good to very underwhelming and everything in between.

Imho, it’s a fantastic looking watch. I own one. It’s my favorite Rolex blue and favorite ceramic bezel. Or you could say it looks like crap and that’s why it’s not in demand.

I’ll just leave this here… beautiful - washed out is not a term for this watch!!

also how it looks is only one factor, try it on your wrist and you will see what I mean platinum feels unbelievable.

looks pretty sweet if you like the look. i've see a few here and there, and it looks really high quality -- would never call it "washed out." personally it doesn't suit my tastes. not a fan of light blue, and i don't really like brown on my watches, or diamonds for that matter. i do like platinum, but never really considered this one.

if you like blue dialed platinum chronos, just cough up the half mil and get yourself a 5372P.

(yes, i'm just kidding.)

(unless you've got the extra half million lying around.)

seriously though, the platona is a killer watch and certainly a rolex statement piece!

I’d say it comes in three modes.

In bright direct light, it’s the washed out look you point out.

In bright indirect light (like high noon in winter) it’s a dark chestnut.

In low light is where I find the watch really stands out with the ice blue dial. Bezel looks black or dark gray.

I'm not a fan of the platinum. And I just never really liked the bezel. The dial looks nice. To me, it's tough to pay some of those platinum prices when PP or AP probably make a better watch. Granted, I love many of the other Rolexes.

Also recommend you find a friend that has one and ask to borrow for a week.

I know someone who has it, so I’ve seen it in person, and it looks stunning. It’s the only Daytona that’s caught my eye (and I know another person with a WG Daytona).

IMO, the color can look almost silver in certain lights, to ice blue like you see in pictures, and sometimes even almost has a greenish tint to it. The bezel, which many deride, looks black in some light, but more chocolate in direct sun. I have never thought the dial color or watch in general looked washed out in any situation, and I wear mine every single day (for about 4 1/2 years).

The price, the weight, the bezel, etc. isn't for everyone. I have no idea if it is for you.

It’s a matter of one’s perspective.

I've seen some color variations of Daytonas wash out with certain lighting but the Platona seems to look awesome every time I've seen one.

This bezel is nice. If you want to see "washed" out bezel put the Hulk in direct sunlight and that green on the bezel is horrid. Same goes for the MK1 and MK2 BLRO Bezels absolutely nothing special and washed out pastel is the best way to describe them.

I'd much rather have the platinum color bezel/dial combo all day anyday. Its freakin awesome and works beautifully.

Here's a number of photos. Lighting can be everything. Certain lightings can certainly cause the color to range from almost greenish metallic to robin's egg blue.

Great pics . Even in the brightest of light it doesn't wash out like the white 500.

@chiboy, do you find your left arm triceps getting more buff than the right after all these years? =)
