Rolex … Relax… or move on…
I wonder when the posts regarding “how can I get my grail SS/Rolex will stop?
It’s so sad to read people all over the world have interest and $, but can’t get the watches they want. But it’s here to stay. Being a regular helps, and more yiu but better chances. But I think part is charm, honesty and if they like you, they will sell to you one day. Buy vintage,or grey if you want it now. Facts are simple ans everyone should know them: - Rolex is an “exclusive brand” (.) Everyone is teased, not everyone is a welcome new member of the club. They control their image. - Rolex doesn’t produce enough, but a lot goes to grey through flippers and many other ways. - If you have no patience, just buy grey if you have to from a reputable source for newer timepieces/models. - Forget the hype and buy if you like it ONLY - If can’t get Rolex either way get Omega or other. - Forget it PM’s are hard to get too. - Rolex are $ at MRP and even more grey. Accept it. Not much csn be fine. Rolex or Relax or move on, that’s the dilemma:…don’t stress by it all. If it happens, good, and if it doesn’t come your way relax and move on. Wishing you luck to get it your Rolex watch sooner or later. I have been lucky, and might be considered a VIP, but might not get all I want these days?when I want, so….. Good luck is the fact….

Wearing no watch is the new flex. Now that every low self-esteem person has a panda Daytona we can move on.

I'm not sure why a Non-Wis in this case would go out and buy an Omega or other.
They don't want a "watch". They want ROLEX. As for the WIS, there are some who get frustrated and have to satisfy their fix with another brand, but it ultimately comes back to Rolex, so buying other brands, especially those with lousy resale, is a waste of money. |

Its all bullcrap now. I'd say 90%+ of watch enquiries are purely scalpers trying to get lucky. Heck they have a name for it now - someone that goes around AD to AD and just buys the stuff and immediate sells it off. Many Youtube clips about this tactic now. Not sure how successful they would be though. |

I just hedge my bets - traded in a slightly knackered used Explorer for a very nice used GMT LN. I am waiting for a GMT BLRO from the AD. If it comes, great. If it doesn't, also great. I'm enjoying the GMT LN a lot.

My favorite retort for "how much did that cost?" is "it doesn't matter, you can't buy one anyway"...
You'd be silly to shell out this kind of dough for a mass produced watch if it wasn't exclusive.

Lots of grail posts lately. Wonder what those people will be wanting in 2 years if they already got their ‘grail’ watch. Probably another unicorn watch lol.

If Rolex is an exclusive brand how the hell did I get in, I’m just Joe Average.
What a lot of nonsense OP, the watches are there whether you go AD (my preference) or via a grey dealer. Exclusive club, what a load of tosh.

I would question OP's comment about a lot of watches going to resellers or gray. I think its a very small number compared to Rolex production. A few on line used watch dealers have a few watches on their websites and people somehow believe that is the only way to buy a Rolex. People buy new from ADs all the time. With supply chains still reeling from the shutdowns, all products are in short supply at the moment. Try to order a golf club with a special shaft from a manufacturer. Supplies will improve by year end or sooner making most Rolexes available with some patience from ADs.

Rolex makes a great watch. Are they exclusive? Absolutely not. I commonly see them on people's wrists. Meanwhile, I don't see many JLCs, IWCs, VCs etc. I know you can walk in and buy any of those at an AD, but they still are much more scarce on the street than Rolex.

Considering the watches you have in your signature, I guess it's kinda 'rich' coming from you to say people should "wait or move on".

It depends how you look at it. If you’re married with a couple kids and only have an “average Joe” salary with limited savings, I’d argue that it’s sort of silly to have a Rolex or any luxury watch for that matter. If you’re single, don’t have any dependents, and live a playboy lifestyle, then I suppose that’s different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
