Stickers

Has the no sticker out the door rule been lifted by dealers ? A guy on FB in Miami has a new 36mm Explorer and a 41 Wimbledon FS both fully stickered.

Stickers off here, not even allowed to retain the bezel protector.

There is NO rule that stickers have to come off.

I have bought watches in the past two years with some on and some off.

Normally if you are going to wear the watch out of the store then the stickers would be taken off by the AD so the watch looks its best.

There is NO Rolex directive to remove them.

I know my AD removes them when you purchase to prevent you from selling it on gray market

I've always thought it pretty standard that mine takes the stickers off. Sometimes they miss one or two. But I always get the bezel protector.

I don’t care and the stickers could come off but wonder if anyone would get into a pissing match with the AD.

Say you paid and they started to remove the stickers and you said no and they said it’s policy. How far would you take it lol. Ask for a policy, would the AD actually take it far enough to say we will refund your money? I kinda want to be a fly on the wall or have some popcorn and watch haha.

If I managed an AD and a customer complained about the stickers being removed… I would tactfully and carefully find a way to communicate that the stickers are coming off and they can either accept the watch or decline it.

If they accept but continue to complain, I would make a note in their file: no future purchases without my review and approval. If they decline, I would blacklist them from any future purchases.

Depends I guess. There are plenty of fully stickered watches for sale recently bought one myself however they come with a premium. My AD had always taken the stickers off.

I agree with you except I wouldn’t be tactful.

Depends on who you are and the relationship yo have with your AD. Peasants like me get them taken off, while I see some some grey dealers with fully stickers pm watches.

As a collector and enthusiast the subject of intact stickers is aggravating and frustrating. I can tell you with complete certainty that the policy is the AD is suppoesed to remove the stickers. I don't know how it is phrased in the licensing agreement. Nor do I know if there is a penalty if you sell a watch with the stickers intact. Rolex hunts for watches with stickers for sale on the secondary market. The company doesn't want it to appear that new Rolex watches are available from secondary market dealers. Only an AD can sell authentic , brand new Rolex watches with stickers intact and they are then removed by the AD at time of sale. Having said that, I know that watches appear all the time fully stickered. Definitely some slip out of the AD with stickers intact. This practice can be easily changed. Some watches end up for sale on the secondary market with stickers on but, most with stickers off. If you are the seller or collector wouldn't you want the stickers intact? Why sell watches with stickers that are supposed to be removed at time of sale? Why do some of these watches get out of the AD with stickers intact? Why hunt for your watches on the secondary market with stickers intact if their is no penalty to the AD who sold the watch? Other brand watches are shipped in a sealed plastic bag that is cut open to remove the watch. It is only my opinion, but these stickers on watches is an example of a calculated scheme by a very intuitive company to preserve value hence promote future sales.

So there must be a market for making “factory” stickers, personally I always ask for the bezel protector but I am fine with the stickers being removed although I always fine 1 or 2. My AD used an app on their phone to register the watch with Rolex, I did not see my name but I did see them photo the warranty card and the watch after sticker removal, I was trying to see the app name, would be interesting to see what they really capture, names etc.

Exactly, when I picked up my new Pepsi last month my AD handed to me in the coffin fully stickered and with the bezel protector on it. It's sitting in my watch storage cabinet in the same condition today.

I picked up a new unworn DJ41 from David SW last month and it had most of its stickers intact.

I must admit, peeling them all off was fun...

That’s awesome, it’s sad that Rolex has come to this. It’s my watch and I should enjoy the destickering process at my leisure. I remember back in the day, the cool feeling of seeing my fully stickered watch and peeling them off at my leisure.

Speaking for myself I buy watches and not the stickyback plastic the watch is the most important bit and not the stickyback plastic thats only fit for the bin after sale.

Did they even have stickers back when you last bought a watch? Besides maybe the green caseback sticker?

Yes even back many years ago they had stickers but were mostly removed at point of sale.

Last Rolex from an AD wiith full stickers was in 2019 .
Rolex then sent them a rule to remove all stickers .

Last Rolexes I bought ,stickers were removed ,some ADs are meticulous ,some miss some stickers .

I dont think it really made any difference in market value or as a deterrent to flippers and greys .
Anyone with some experience know how unworn looks and feels .

Anyway,it reaches the grey ,they post it with gloved images on the mighty web ,but wear it themselves ...

My stickers were already off when I came in to collect the watch. (US). Don’t really care either way but had I thought about it more, I would love to have been the one to remove them. It’s satisfying taking the protective stickers off new items like electronics. If it is the AD’s policy to remove them I would love to have been given the chance to do.

I have a good relation with me AD, and they let me keep the clasp sticker in place. Provides just a bit of scratch protection where it is most needed and no one really notices it.
