AD Kept Plastic Lid Bezel Cover

So I got the call for my Sport Rolex and to my surprise, AD told me he could not give me the bezel plastic cover, that Rolex had it forbiden and must be returned upon sale. This is the first time this happens to me although the last watch was bought two years ago. I was incredulous. Can anyone confirm ?

That's surprising I just picked up a sports Rolex yesterday and my AD encouraged me to keep the bezel protector and the plastic coffin it came inn.

I wasn't offered to keep one in Feb when I collected my Sub. I don't care, because I don't plan to resell (and not sure why it would matter anyway unless selling an unworn watch). I can see where this issue might bother the "full set" folks some, but not a deal stopper for me.

My last 2 purchases were in December 2020 and June 2021, on both occasions bezel protector and plastic shipping container retained by AD.
In my opinion it’s an AD policy rather than Rolex.

This ^. It seems like individual AD's come up with weird ideas every day and then blame it on Rolex.

Not a deal breaker for me but it’s just dumb policy. What purpose does it have? Why include the protector if we can’t keep it

incredulous feeling but innocent help with a plastic bezel cover?

It would be way better to talk to the AD as they are the source of the problem (which isn’t really a problem).

So my answer stands. They just don’t like him… if they did he’d have his little trashcan watch lid and wouldn’t need you to play hero.

Man you’re confusing humor with rudeness. @stmoore has been a member here since 2012, he’s not being rude. He’s joking…

The other day a dude asked “how to put down your watch between wears”… and a ton of funny comments came… Anyway… The world isn’t out to offend, but its on each of us to be offended by every little thing.

Maybe a rare stake, some heavy squats and a good sweat will get your humor back!

I told him I was shipping another watch back to Rolex and don’t want to use my green box, so they gave me a coffin. Apparently they can do whatever the hell they want.

All kidding aside, getting the “coffin” is the thing to get (and not easy).
Those things are awesome for safe storage, shipping, etc.

The true joke is I’ve heard form one AD that they do this to deter flipping.

“Oh no, this 35k Daytona is worthless because it has no stickers and plastic lid, nobody is going to buy it above MSRP now. Oh the humanity.”

I've always requested to keep mine and my AD just 'slipped' it to me under the table but did mention he wasn't supposed to give it...

I did talk to the AD. Just now matter of fact after the answers. There is a reason for this. They are being absolutely 100% faithful to Rolex policy. The witholdings gives Rolex the assurance, and the AD the lack of liability, of a suspicion that one of their watches went directly as came from the factory to a grey dealer. They just don´t want to cut any corners. It does make sense. I even watched a youtube video where an AD was punished for sending watches directly to grey dealers. When yhou think of it it is silly, as the watches still make their way to greys and fetch huge premiums over dealer pricing without stickers or plastic covers or what have you. But some ADs feel "safer" I guess by keeping certain things and as you say here not a deal breaker. I certainly did not say no to the purchase. Things aside, I am enourmously happy with my Panda!!

Sometimes I think the term, "First world problems" is over used. But for this occasion, I think it fits.

I can't even imagine being the person that complains about not having a $0.95 piece of plastic on a $15-$25k watch.

Well in the real world they are only for protection till watch is bought to wear, then the only place for them is in the waste plastic recycle bin.

Not sure why the plastic bezel protector is so important.

Who cares how long he’s been a member here? He can still be rude. Which he was and you’re covering for it for no reason. You also don’t know how much red meat I eat or how much I squat so why don’t you stop acting like that makes someone immune from calling out absurd comments. OP wanted to know why some people get the protector and some people don’t. That might seem absurd to you and me but not him. So what?

Yeah CLEARLY I’m playing hero by calling our your absurd comment. You don’t know what the store thinks about the OP. I don’t know what they think about him either. But you don’t need to make someone feel like crap when they just wanna know about their watch they just got.

Hit or miss for me. Same AD on a Sub included the bezel protector, the other piece I didn't receive. I didn't buy the watch for the protector, nor am I traveling with it on so I personally didn't care one way or the other.
