Orlando Mall of Millenia Rolex AD

Happened over to Orlando this morning to visit DavidSW and afterwards over to local Rolex AD in Orlando. Cases FULL! (Only missing movements) Sorry if this has previously been posted. Great to try the novelties on for size at least. Better than empty cases???

As for the DavidSW visit I tried on some pre-ceramic 16610 (2) and an unworn 41mm 2020 Submariner. Had considered swapping my D Serial 16710 Pepsi GMT but we couldn’t come to what I thought was a fair agreement. No problem! Still highly recommend them as a quality, trusted Grey dealer.

Also visited the JLC space and Vacheron which is basically Mayor’s/Watches of Switzerland.

Madness.

Next I’m going to go to the Porsche dealership which will let me sit in the new GT3, except it has no engine or transmission.

are you sure? I'm not a Porsche guy but my understanding is that there's a waitlist and allocation issue for these cars
so unless if you are a VIP customer, you are not going to walk in and test drive a GT3

You can put a deposit on a GT3, unlike a Daytona.
You can't really experience a GT3 on public roads anyway!

I wonder if this will be the new approach, dummy watches in the case for looking at and trying on but then they give you the real watch when you buy it, would make things better for those who don't want people trying things on but also can enable them to keep restricting supply

Only if you are an established customer who has worked his/her way up the hierarchy with multiple prior purchases will you be allowed to spec your own. Even then depending on dealership you will pay above MSRP for a “market adjustment.” Ask me how I know?

The female SA was very kind and knowledgeable admitted that they were expecting steady flow of practically every reference except Daytona. They are looking forward to a robust shopping season. The 36mm Explorer was way too small (to me… she agreed) on my 7.25” wrist. Cool to see it however. The Green OP was perfect, having previously owned the 39mm OP White Dial it wore basically the same. Strangely the lighting in DavidSW store is superior to the Rolex AD. Pieces practically jump out of the case there! Amazing selection of hard to find wristwatches there.

I will add a GT3 is not unobtanium like the RS.

Couple of years ago Rolex was taking all the new watches sans movements on roadshows (don't know what else to call it), told to me by a local AD who had them in before having to move them on to another AD and I was fortunate enough to be able to see all the new models.

That's where my lust for the green and yellow dial OP's began. Fortunately, I was very lucky and scored both of them (albeit one from one AD and the other from the other local AD) without having to jump through hoops, bundling, unwanted additional jewelry acquisitions, etc. Very grateful . . .

Rather see them with the dummies than nothing at all. At least you can pick out a watch and buy grey!

Yes you are correct, the GT3 is easier but I still had to play games before I was able to get my former GT3.

Probably not even. There is a huge car shortage. Asked my BMW dealer while mine was in service if I could try a new M3. He just laughed and said I’d have to come back 6 weeks from now to see ANY car. They had nothing.
They sent me an email two hours later to see if I wanted to sell mine (nope).

So this is a permanent display where they display most of the Rolex models? I am going there at the end of the month, so it would be cool to see a couple of pieces I am still trying to acquire, mainly a Pepsi and I was considering trading my current Bluesy for a 41mm model. Did they have both of those in that display?

Thanks!

Dealership 20 min from my house had 2 M3’s and 2 M4’s all available for sale. They did get sold pretty quickly but we’re sitting in showroom unlocked for anyone to checkout. Think they have had a few more trickle in since then.

Porsche as well down the street has had several 911’s you could purchase. No GT3’s didn’t bother to ask about a building spot since I’m not in the market for one. My buddy who recently built his own 911 convertible got 15% off sticker.

There are deals to be had just depends on what market you are in and who you know.
