INCOMING... Rolex Daytona Meteorite!

Bet you thought it was the new Daytona Meteorite but alas, the disappointment can hopefully be qualmed by its older brother.

I've been on the hunt for a meteorite dial long before this year's Daytona release and thought it would always be the Pepsi GMT to check the box. It was always impossible to find a meteorite dial in person and since each dial is different, it was always a concern buying new without seeing the pattern you would receive.

Typically I am overwhelmed prior to buying and then underwhelmed post buying but this was the opposite experience. I've been very fortunate enough to own a wide array of Daytona's, almost all of them except the Platona. Have to say, this Daytona completely blew me away. The weight of the WG is fantastic without being too heavy and maybe it is my eyes, but I do notice a more warmer tone than the SS variant. The meteorite dial is INCREDIBLE in person, so much better than photos. Reflection off the dial is mesmerizing and shifts as the light hits the dial. Really needs to be seen in person to be appreciated.

Legibility is better than the reviews on here, it isn't that hard to see the hour and minute markers. The red hands adds a nice touch. I was always on the fence with the roman numerals given it takes away a bit of the sportiness, however them being silver actually works well with the dial.

Saw this Daytona listed by GMTSpas and immediately reachout to purchase the watch, it was a wonderful and easy transaction with Alex. Perhaps a bit of an impulse buy as I was waiting for the new Daytona Meteorite but preferred this meteorite's matching subdials. The new Daytona Meteorite has black subdials, the dial is a bit small as it is on the Daytona and the new full black subdials I think will take away from the mesmerizing meteorite dial. While I never buy watches for investment, I do believe with the current demand and waitlists for the new Daytona Meteorite, prices when released are going to be astronomical and I suspect a trickle down effect happens to this older sibling at a "relative" steal today in the 40s.

Watch needs a quick polish as it was purchased unpolished but has held up very well for a WG 8 year old Daytona. Few photos below you can see how dynamic the dial is and how much larger the AP 41MM chrono wears along with a family photo (changing hopefully later this week).

Congrats! Truly a beautiful watch. Just so I didn’t misinterpret, this is all Rolex, not a custom build?

Thank you! Correct, OEM rolex. I think they discontinued this dial on the Daytona around 2015.

Congratulations on a gorgeous time piece!

I don’t know if it’s just me but those lugs appear to be a bit much polished.

wow that's a nice pick up, and it is immediately obvious this is a size smaller next to the AP!

And no it's not your eyes if you are referring to the subtle yellow/gold undertone, I think that's how Rolex produces its WG pieces? Never seen this discontinued reference myself but it's the same with the BLRO WG vs. SS, helps differentiate them outside of the dials

Your collection looks awesome, congratulation on the new watch. Not a fan of the daytona meteorite dial, but your's looks very good!!! Also, congrats on your stunning collection - that all gold royal oak!! I probably wouldn't buy the same watches, but I certainly share the appreciation for them!

Gorgeous. Beautiful watch. Beautiful collection. I agree with you about wanting as much meteorite as possible. And I do love the Roman numerals but for me, I would like to see the numerals illuminate instead of just white gold Roman numeral indices. But just a small personal preference. Not to say that if given the change, I wouldn’t jump all over this reference. It’s truly stunning and nothing beats the meteorite dial in my opinion. Enjoy and wear them all in fantastic health. Congrats.
