Is your current favorite Rolex the one you've always wanted?
Some of us have wanted a certain model since we were kids.
If that's you, my question is this - is the model you pined after for years perhaps decades one that you currently own, and if so is it the favorite of your collection? For me I always thought about the 16610. Saw it on older men's wrists and thought it was awesome. I still think it's the best looking piece despite wishing I was WIS enough to like something less common, and despite the "improvements" on later versions. Alternatively, anyone always loved a certain watch since they were younger, and then later something else turned out to be your favorite? What was it? Hoping for some interesting responses! |

I bought the Rolex I wanted for 24 yrs a little over a year ago. It’s the only one in my “collection” and it’s worn every day. It’s opened the doors for exploration and interest into other models, I just can’t bring myself to spend the money when I have the one I really wanted on my wrist already. As of right now, I am perfectly content with my perfect Rolex.

First, favorite, and the Rolex watch I wanted growing up is/was the Submariner. Another way to look at it is if my house was on fire and I could save only 1 Rolex piece, what would it be?
It would be my Sub due to the sentimental and personal feelings associated with it. I had to put in the work to save for that timepiece and really is a celebration of a set of personal goals achieved. Oddly enough it wouldn't be the first watch I would save if I could only save 1. That would be the wedding watch I received from my wife which is a Omega Speedmaster. |

Sub was the the first Rolex I actually saw. I was maybe 10. My uncle had one. Later I loved the , the 80s variant. For a reason that isn’t clear I shifted to the Daytona, buying a zenith new at the AD after selling my TT sub I’d had for maybe a year. I was a one watch guy for about 14 years while enthralled with my career, but still dreaming of watches. Since then I’ve truly lost count of those owned, sold and traded.

I used to loathe the Daytona. Since the ceramic bezel was introduced I love it. So for me there has been quite a change in preference

Yes, always wanted a Submariner since I first saw one. I have 2 now (14060M & 124060).

Submariner - like to add around it, but what drew me to the brand and all I really need.

I currently only own the new version of the Submariner and I have to admit that for many years I didn’t give the Sub a seconds thought.
Of the ones I‘ve owned (Explorer & OP39) the Sub has quickly become my favorite. The slight redesign really hit the sweet spot for me and I don’t feel the need for another Rolex.

Feel very fortunate that I own all my Rolex favorites.
Of course I’m pretty confident I’ll have another favorite at some point in the future :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’ve always been drawn to a submariner. Specifically the two tone bluesy.
I ended up going timeless black sub. The bluesy always catches my eye… but I think I’ll skip it and go right to full gold. I don’t see myself “needing” anything other than a sub. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think initially I was attracted to the GMTs. By the time I could afford one it was a 116710LN. Now my favorite is a 5513 sub so no would be my answer. But I still love a good GMT and would like a 1675.

My favorite has always been the Sub (without date). I’ve had them all, going back to the 5513. Even now, my only Rolex is a 124060. Still my favorite.

Yep. Wanted a classic sub for half my life. Which turned out to be a 5 digit not 6. Got it a few years back and though I look at others I can't imagine actually wearing something else. Well, maybe a Platinum DD or meteorite Daytona I mean who can't imagine wearing one of those.

When I first got into luxury watches, I didn't really didn't have any brand or model in mind. I bought everything from Omega to Patek, then flipped it for a new one weeks or months later.
That changed when I saw the Hulk in person. Something about the color green, which is my favorite, mesmerized me. Been wearing it pretty much every day for the past 5 years. So yes, I think I have the watch I've always wanted. |

Always wanted a submariner. Playing golf, a lot of the guys had them. One of my buddies had one when i was around 13, he was in his late 20s. We are still friends and i get to see that exact watch multiple times per week.
I owned a few subs throughout the years but none really scratched the itch. Now, I’m getting a brand new date sub this year for my birthday (November). I cannot wait! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not at all, the explorer 1 burned on me slowly. After a couple of months of ownership I can't stop wearing it.

Actually not, my current and absolute favorite was not even on my radar when I started looking to buy my first Rolex. Trying one model after the other I was a bit underwhelmed by either the proportions, size and or wrist presence of those models.
I ended up turning down a sub, a GMT and a DJ41… I reset my mind and decided to look further and dig more into Rolex line until I saw it in a special case framed inside one of the boutiques walks, I asked the SA if I could try it, she said yes of course, I ordered o e few seconds after the fact. Yes, I own the two most iconic Rolex references (to me). The YG DD and Submariner. These pieces completely encompass Rolex DNA in my opinion. I keep looking at other Rolex options, and have been close to purchasing them, but in the end I tell myself “Nah, you’re good with what you have.”
