Day-Date order wait times

AD is quoting a year from order for most configurations. I know wait times can fluctuate quite a bit, but is this reasonable enough to move forward with an order?

They are also wanting in the neighborhood of 75% down to secure the order.

Thanks for any input!

The latter part is what seems high. Usually 50% or under. What are the cancellation (I.e. refund) terms? And what model? If your dealer letting you order RG/olive, they can pretty much set the terms, but for a YG36, you can probably do better.

yikes. In this time that may not be so awful. Can't imagine a simple YG with white/champagne dial with no diamonds would take that long.
Anything else-who knows?

The question is whether it's an actual order (outbound from AD to Rolex) or simply reserving your spot in line to get the next one that does arrive. In either case from what I know the AD will have no way to give an accurate timeline. But if it's not actually an order that Rolex is aware of, rather just reserving the next one that arrives for you, then I'd be worried about it dragging on even longer.

There are only 2 reasons I would go the AD route for Day Dates..

1. Trying to improve purchase history with the AD.
2. Trying to buy Rose Gold Day Dates.

Other than that, Day Dates in WG or YG can be bought from secondary market almost at MSRP +/- local tax

1. WG - https://www.watchrecon.com/?query=228239&last_days=0
2. YG - https://www.watchrecon.com/?query=228238&last_days=0

Thanks guys! I'm leaning RG olive or chocolate...Or possibly platinum olive.

I will definitely get some clarification on actual order vs reserved spot.

I just received a DJ from the same AD via order in a little over 2 months, so would like to keep my business with them as they treated me well on my first purchase!

There is or least as of yesterday a DD40 rose gold, chocolate dial, diamond markers and diamond bezel in the case at my local AD. I do not have a large amount of connections but could certainly try to help if i can.

Put a deposit on a yg dd40 228348rbr diamond bezel and dial in February. Ad said they have no idea when it’s going to come. They did offer me a panda after it arrives.

If you're going RG/olive, make certain AD tells you exactly what the deal is in terms of placing order vs. waiting for one to come on its own, and your priority.

Many members have said their dealers have stopped taking orders on this configuration so either a) yours is willing to go the extra mile for you/hasn't got anyone else in line or b) you're providing an interest-free loan.

Sounds like any other version is available with some patience.

Following.

I just tried to put an order in for a DD at my AD last week and was told that Rolex was not currently accepting anymore orders from AD’s until they get “caught up” on current backlog.

I just picked up my chocolate rose gold. Waited 6 months. Also deposit is 20 percent usually. Sometimes 10 percent.

I have gotten different answers from different ADs, which is frustrating for sure :/

I was told 6m-1y and put 20% down. Deposit could depend on if you've purchased with them in the past?

I’ve been told by my AD that they are not even taking orders anymore. I inquired about a yg and platinum DD and they said there was nothing they could do.

Hello
May I ask what price you were quoted on that day date?
I happen to have my eyes open for the exact same watch…
LOVE the 41MM,classic yellow gold…and that diamond bezel with the larger round stones!!
AMAZING!
Are those truly so in demand?
I know the Rolex world is INSANE…

Anyway,Rolex.com shows no prices and Chrono24 is all over on pricing.
I appreciate in advance if you’re willing to share Price?
I suspect $52-$55k plus sales tax.
Thank You,and good luck with Your search!

I've talked to about 5-6 AD's in my area and only one was willing to place an order. They said 8-12 months and it was a 20% down deposit. They were not allowed to order the RG olive dial but they could order the chocolate dials.

Rolex boutique told me that they are allowed to take order only for DateJust and required 50% for deposit.

Early this year I asked for RG Day-Date with Olive dial, no deposit required and got it in 4 months.

Interesting! Yes, for a long time I didn’t realize that RG Day-Dates seem to be going for a big premium regardless of dial — I thought it was just the olive dial that was the standout, but seems like it’s any RG.

I’ve seen some WG Day-Dates selling for less than MSRP + tax.

Say what????

My last two Day Dates were purchased through my AD, as are all my watches.
DD 40 YG White Dial paid 32K out the door, prepaid in full, waited 1-year, current grey pricing $42-52K DavidSW asking as of today $45,375.00
DD 40 Platinum Baguettes ice blue dial paid $65K out the door, $10K deposit, waited 5 months, current grey pricing $79-90K

The amount of dollars on paper I am up for the difference of price paid to my Ad versus market value on my last four SS watches is substantial.

I think there are many more than two reasons to go the AD route my friend.

I only want to buy from an AD so as to guarantee the watch’s authenticity, I have no interest in flipping but I’m having a hard time getting an AD to tell me I’m getting the watch I want at any point or even ask me for a deposit. This I do not understand…

You have some sweet watches Gary, and cars! I know you are waiting for a YG Green Daytona. When my Ad takes a deposit or paid in full, I know I am getting my watch, he is then accountable to me. The few I do want have an insane market value, SARU GMT and Platona baguette, and he won't take a deposit or paid in full, that lets me know where I stand. It's extremely hard for him to obtain these models. He will eventually cave and let me place a deposit, but it takes time. Will I pay double retail, market value, no, I have too many other watches to enjoy, but I will appreciate it more when I can obtain at MSRP.

A year wait for a DD? That is wild. I thought maybe that was only for the no-diamond models but I'm hearing long waits even for diamond bezel and/or markers.
