Rolex GMT IIC Bezel Insert fell off!
The bezel insert fell off my watch today for no apparent reason. I had taken it off to go through airport security and when I went to put it back on the bezel had separated and was missing. Luckily, I located the ceramic insert where I had taken the watch off! I did not drop it or hit it against anything. I tried to get back in place but I was unable to. Has anyone else had this problem? I guess I will be visiting my AD tomorrow. Any thoughts?

I have heard of a couple of these ceramic inserts falling out for no reason..
Let us know what the watchmaker says if you can talk to him........

Thanks, I am just glad I did not lose the insert. Evidently, they are expensive to replace.

I take it the steel part of the bezel is still intact?....wow, what a shocker....I would really like to know why it happened, sure all other owners would too, Mark had a bit of a worry the other day about bezel movement, not sure if you saw the thread, but the insert falling out....that really is something to be concerned about........I really hope it gets fixed and please let us know what happens and what they say at the AD........

When I am about to go through Airport security, I always place my watch in my carry that goes into the xray machine. I hate the thought of taking it off and putting it in one of those buckets that a bunch of people before my have put their stuff in! Why would you take the bezel off at all anyway?

Is the watch still under warranty? If so I would just tell Rolex it fell off and you lost it. That should NEVER happen on such a new watch. Is Rolex starting to make junk now? Is that insert just glued in?

Hmmm, I just ran to check mine. Perfectly snug.
Yep, the coronet at 12 is still slightly crooked though. I sure wish that would fix itself! |

No matter how good a QC any company has, there are bound to be a few lemons here and there.
then again, having said that, i have read many stories from WTF, WUS, Timezone, etc about how the GMTIIc bezel breaks, drops off, etc. However, I rem seeing that there was a poll some where about how true these statements are. In the end, out of numerous post, there was never 1 actual photo to justify. I am not trying to state anything here, but it would be good if this claim can be accompanied by some photos? btw, thanks for making this your virgin post in TRF :) |

In the GMT II, the insert is held down with a spring pin like device.
Wonder if the newer GMT IIc is the same? Bit of a bummer, what? |

Agreed....there seems to be no photographic evidence of any damage caused to a ceramic bezel, or of the bezel removed...I really hope gs430 gets his/her bezel fettled.....loads of pictures for the earlier Aluminium bezel inserts, I for one would like to see what's under there......it would be good for all owners to see what happened as well as hear/read

A GMT IIc won't set off an airport security scanner, whatever the staff might tell you. So just wear it through :)

I have I was in an ADs store when one "fell out" The rep said this happens Rolex covered everything. The AD said another customer had this happen. The AD gave a loaner Sub to thed customer while the GMT was over nighted to Rolex and fix two days later. Rolex or the AD I don't know who gave the customer a cool flat Rolex note pad and Rolex green plastic pen. I thought that was great customer service loaner watches.

Pics would be wonderful. Need to see this.
Also, you don't need to take your watch off for airport security. I never do. Just did it this weekend!

Agreed, absolutely no need to run it through the x-ray machine.
