Icon5 Most timeless metal?

Do you think the everose gold will go out of style?

What do you consider the most classic, timeless band?

Thanks!

It may become less trendy, but never out of style. IMO Skin tone as well as other factors make rose gold pop on certain people, more so than other metals.

Steel is undoubtedly the most timeless. The popularity of gold (and especially TT) seems to ebb and flow over time. TT has definitely had something of a renaissance, as has rose gold, fairly recently. But as Horseco said, other metals never go out of style completely, but there are times when they have been less popular and no doubt that cycle will turn again at some point.

+1

I'd worry more about the style of the watch falling out of trend.

White gold - clean look that should stand up to just about any trends. If all materials probably stainless steel for practical purposes

Yes, well technically steel is an alloy. But then so is Everose that Rolex uses...

Steel is a metal (alloy), but is not a chemical element.

Nickel or Iron, have the most stable isotopes. Those are the metals that will
Stay as they are the longest.

Thanks!

Yes its going to wax and wane in popularity as future tastes change.

Platinum was very popular a century ago, then waned, and is now sought again.

The most classic, timeless band?
Impossible…classic and timeless seldom meet. For example, before WW1 silver cased men’s pocket watches and ladies pendant watches were all the rage. No bands required.

Then, immediate post-war European tastes dictated classic leathers for bands. Silver continued but later waned; gold & gold-plated were in vogue…and platinum…that is, until depression and global financial ruination followed.

From ‘30’s onward, noble metals gave way to acier inoxydable, Staybrite and now Oystersteel.

So not classic, not a single metal, but I think for the foreseeable future, Oystersteel alloy is timeless for both cases and bands.

Yellow gold will ALWAYS be yellow gold..... if timeless is the question that is the answer. Whether someone can pull it off is a different question.

platinum - shine and hardness makes it scratch resistant.

Let’s agree to think of it as what material is used in watches

I’ll go with Stainless Steel. Based on all the chatter on this very forum, it seems to be popular

Timeless metal - with the push for a green environment gaining momentum the most timeless metal will be the one that can be produced with the greenest credentials.

My Grandma told me 30 years ago, “yellow gold never goes out of style” and I tend to agree.

Gold, of course, since forever. SS will be around for a while too, as most of us have learned to use forks, spoons, etc.
