I actually checked the price yesterday and there's a reasonable increase in value. It seems it's going back to the good old days... Well if so, it's not a bad idea for an investment plan.

The post doesn't say which Daytona reference but the 116500ln isn't really a panda, right.....

About opposite ends of the wearing spectrum and totally different complications … that aside, I’d buy the one you want to wear and enjoy.

Besides, your son may not like watches when he’s old enough to wear one

Last year I got both white Daytona and DSSD JC on the same day, white Daytona from AD, DSSD JC from the boutique but both own by the same family.

I think after DSSD JC discontinue, the value will skyrocketing.

Both are great to own, just picks the one that sing to you the most.

For now, DSSD JC is a lot easier to get compare to Daytona.

If you're referring to the 116500LN, then that would be my choice

Watches are pretty different and at opposite ends of the spectrum. I love both and wear both. Can't go wrong with either.

The DSSD and the Daytona - about as similar as two completely dissimilar things...in a pod.

Can't believe this is a genuine question/thread, but here goes anyway -

Firstly OP, is this a speculative visit to your AD just to enquire about either watch, or are you actually being offered them? If it's speculative, and if you have zero purchase history, then you'll have literally zero chance of getting a Daytona (especially assuming we're talking about a 116500LN) from an AD. The DSSD is a possibility to get hold of but here in the UK you'll still have a heck of a wait for the JC version (especially with no history).

Secondly, your son may not be into watches, so better to buy what YOU like now, rather than what he may (or may not) like in the future.

Thirdly, the dreaded "I" word. Unless you have fully functioning crystal ball, then absolutely no-one knows what the future holds for the value of watches. Buy what you like (and what you can get), and enjoy it now. All other considerations should be secondary.

DSSD for me, the Daytona is pretty but too small in my opinion, it’s a unisex watch

The two couldn’t be worse paired. The DS is a brute top heavy Goliath while the Daytona is a delicate 39 supermodel slender featherweight

I'm lucky have both. Not sure i agree with Daytona being a Delicate 39 super.....featherweight. next time i wear it I'll feel a little light in my loafers LOL.. I'm very surprised just how VERY much I like the DSSD 126660 wider band does make a difference. It's been on my wrist more in the last month than others

Unless you know your son will have a medium or large wrist, a DSSD might not work. Also Daytona is worth a lot more right now.

If you must get one as an investment for your a son the Daytona but it it be better to invest in something else?.
I won't really call buying watches an investment because it might get stolen or robbed before your son comes of age.
Just like the op said buy bitcoin and hold.

Daytona and it’s not even close.

The JC has a beautiful dial but it also has a bunch of silly looking text at 12 and 6, ridiculous proportions, ridiculous height and weight all of which will, sooner or later, find annoying.
