First Post... Incoming
I joined 10 months ago after naively walking into an AD to purchase a GMT II after searching for a dual time zone watch on Google. I am not a "watch guy", so I had no clue about all of the drama surrounding Rolex availability. I was merely looking for a watch that I could use to set to my son's time zone so that I could be reminded of him. He is in the US Army and was almost 12 months into his deployment near the DMZ in South Korea at that time. He has now been moved to Italy for the next 3 years. I thought that a "plain 'ol stainless steel watch" would be easy to find in a store, as I assumed the desirable watched were precious metal and jeweled. Safe to say, I was gently educated in the fallacy of ny thinking by a very kind SA. They put me on a list, and I popped in or emailed every few months. I then joined this Forum to educate myself on all things Rolex. I must admit that there were threads that gave me encouragement and others that made me lose hope, but I always clicked on the "incoming" threads and felt joy (and a bit of envy) for the lucky ones who received the watch of their dreams (especially the GMT II). I did not play games, nor was I ever asked to. I received a phone call this morning, and I'm not sure who was more excited, me or the SA. Until today I had never even seen this watch in person. Needless to say, it is more impressive on my wrist than I ever imagined. I may purchase a Jubilee one day, but I am actually very happy with the Oyster.
My great hope now is to find another just like it to one day (soon) gift to my only son. It would mean so much to him and me to have a matching timepiece, especially one that would indicate the time while we occupy different parts of the world. To all who unknowingly kept me entertained, educated, and encouraged, thank you! |

Congratulations on a fantastic piece!, one of the most useful and great looking Rolex's IMO. Well done especially in these times.
