I noticed something...
The sound of my GMT-IIc movement is louder than my that of my Sub. When I put up the Sub to my ear, it's harder to hear than my GMT-IIc.
Could it be because the Sub has a thicker case back?

I agree, tht GMT IIc has a loud movement compared to any other modern Rolex. I was surprised how much louder it is compared to my GMT II "D" series Pepsi. On the other side of the scale, I was surprised how quiet my Milgauss is -- probably because of the encased movement.

Youssef....mine ticks louder, or at least differently, when compared to me DJ's and DD, I don't have any other sports models so I can't compare with them, my other three are all 80's watches so I just put it down to a combination of the GMT being newer and of course being a different case.....if I could describe it I would say it made more of a "ping" sound with each tick if that makes any sense....

Yes the GMT IIC is almost crying out loud for attention. Possibly the 3186 is a louder movement. Think about it, all these people walking around all day with earphone on and loud music blasting away. Rolex is just being smart and producing a louder watch for an increasingly "Hard of Hearing" generation. |

My 16610 is louder then my 116233. They sound different also; which is interesting because they are both 3135.

My '03 TOG resonates in E. Honest, I checked it against a tuning fork yesterday!.
I speculate that your larger watch will resonate slightly lower, given the mass. |

My GMT IIc is so beautiful to listen to! It's like there's a tiny symphony in there! I love it! First time I heard it I was lying in bed and I had my arm under my pillow. I heard this "chiming" and I thought "What the...?"
