Where do you store your watches

Given the rapid inflation in Rolex values and the fact many have more than one expensive watch.

Where do you store your watches and why?

Do you fear they increase the risk for home invasions or burglary?

Or do you have no concerns regarding the value of your collection.

Why should having a Rolex increase the risk of home invasion or burglary?

In the Netherlands there were multiple robberies at houses where there was a known watch collection.

Home invasion robberies are often based on intelligence that high value items are stored there. Criminals gather information from Facebook, loose talk and other means to select targets.

Probably low probability but very high risk and danger.

We keep our watches in a large safe. Then, we keep other watches in a different safe.
We figure, it would take a burglar a long time to break into those, and by that point the screaming perimeter and motion alarms would probably have them looking for faster items to gather.
(this assumes we are not home when they’re stupid enough to break in).
If they break in, while we are at home.... that’s the subject of another discussion.

Most importantly, we pay for personal articles policy on our homeowners insurance. It covers everything for approximately the purchase price. That’s sufficient for us, despite the appreciation of many of them.

For the few pieces that we rarely wear anymore, maybe we should consider the safe deposit box after all. Thanks for that suggestion!

I have never worried about someone breaking into my home, even before I owned watches.

Must be difficult to live in fear everyday

Great Alarm, Great Dogs, Great Cameras. It's not living in fear, it's being aware of the reality of the situation. You don't worry about it, you don't loose sleep over it, you take steps to deter it.

In a safe, inside a vault, in a volcano. Right next to the Juicedratics formula.

In a waterproof, dustproof Peli case that fits in a very hard to find gap.

I’d thought about putting the case with tools so it looks like a drill or something.

I keep a dummy GMT on my bedside cabinet too as a decoy.

I link them all together and wear them like a belt similar to those travelers safety belts to store money. Don’t want them out of my sight

I keep them in a bank vault and rotate them every other week. I only keep the daily dresser on the bed stand with some smart watches.

I don’t think so, the monsters are under my bed, they have been there since I was a child.

However, the demons are in the bottle close by the bed.

In a TL-30/UL 350 safe, although the safe was purchased long before the watch.

I store it in this safe because it can easily resist skilled attacks and will also protect the contents even if, God forbid, the house completely burns to the ground.

And yes, wearing a Rolex could absolutely increase the chance of a home invasion. However, visibility plays a huge role here, no different than if you store firearms, bullion, crypto wallets, etc. at your home or leave a digital trail suggesting that you may store such items at your home.

I have it hidden in the sock drawer so to speak, a place hopefully unlikely to find expensive things. I have a safe, several actually, but mostly to store firearms, documents, and cash, but I think it's too much trouble to put it there. If I were to put it in a safe, it'd have to be dedicated to watches, with a nice display where i can see my entire collection, of 6, all at once. I actually recently got a safe deposit box at the bank, I have yet to put anything in there haha.

Because it potentially suggests you have things 'worth' stealing. Obviously, it is very situation-dependent and location can play a huge factor as well.

Safest place for a watch is on the wrist.

That’s one way to do it Padi! Love that Daytona. I have my issues with the modern version, but to my eye that one there may be the ideal Daytona.
