Icon11 Very weird display question..

I have always wondered why Rolex...among other brands; suppose they do the same, have their watches on display and have the hour hand just past 10, the minute hand just past 2 o clock and the second right on 31 seconds? Is there a reason behind this?

it has always bugged me...specially the second hand not being directly on 30 seconds or 6 o clock!

not sure if other brands do this as well...

anyways...hopefully I can get some clarification! sorry if this sounds really dumb ...because it is actually! lol :D

It is supposed to represent a smiling face.

I would venture to guess the watch maker's name, model and other points of interest on the dial would be visible at all times. Waddya think?

That's what I've always heard to be true.

This is correct. All the extra writing on the watch dial is easily seen unincumbered when the hands are at 10 and 2 o'clock. The smiley face is just a bonus.

Yes Redpygmy has it right.

The 10:08:32 is the best position to show of all the details of the watch.

This has been a tradition for a very long time.
