One Free Rolex 2009 Summer Magazine from Japan
Hi Everyone
I was fortunate to get my hands on a few copies of the latest ROLEX magazine for summer 2009. One lucky TRF member is going to get this magazine. The magazine is in Japanese, it contains a lot of photos of the latest Rolex watches, price graphs etc. The first person to correctly guess the following will get it. 1. Where was I born. (One hint was given in a recent post of mine) 2. What is my native language - the language in which I received all my education. Photo of the cover attached. The magazine will be mailed the week of June 8th by air mail. If there are no correct answers, the closest will be selected. Good luck. |

Why is it the Japanese have such great watch magazines, and we almost NEVER do, here in the USA?? Good luck to one of you, as I don't have a clue.

You were born in the Commonwealth of Ceylon and your early education was in Sinhalese and English and you may speak Tamil as well ! At 1815 aftern the fall of Kingdom of Kandy , the island became affiliated with the British India ,whom the British took over from the Mongols or Moghuls

Correct
Hi Everyone That was too easy for Harvey. Yes I was born in Colombo Sri Lanka and my native language is indeed English. Great guess. I migrated to Australia in 1989. Thanks everyone. Harvey is the first to guess and therefore the winner. I only have one extra copy. The magazine is sold out in the bookstores so I cannot get anymore. Harvey pls. PM me your name and postal address. Will mail out next week as I have staff from our Boston office in town all this week and I am going to be really tied down with them. Cheers and thank you everyone for trying. Sorry for the others who got it right. Imtiaz |

Great answer but Harvey was first
Quote:
Yes I was born in Old Ceylon in 1949, a year after independence. My entire education was in English with Sinhalese as a second language, Latin as a classical language. Indeed I also speak Tamil fluently. In 1970 I moved to Japan to study Engineering and I now speak Japanese and Korean. And Japanese is now my second language. Sorry Nakow, that was a super answer but Harvey was the first right one. Cheers Imtiaz |

Sorry Foxy
Foxy, you were beaten by the bell or the send button. I checked the times and both Harvey and you were neck to neck. If there was another copy I would gladly send one to you too but this is a collectors' copy dedicated to Rolex watches only. Only 2 editions a year with huge details of Rolex watches, price trends, new mechanics etc. Sells out in a few days. My wife is going to check the stores to see if there is another copy. Till then. Thank you for guessing perfectly. Harvey has got a faster finger. Cheers Imtiaz |

Foxy's got a friend in my house
Hi Foxy
Did you know my wife is one of your great supporters? This morning over brekkie I was telling her that Harvey won by a second over you. Immediately she said "No way! Foxy is a winner too, it's a TIE. You got to send him one too". "From where" I ask. "Go check the bookstore in your office complex" So I did and believe it I found one on the shelf. So Foxy old chap, you a get one too. Please PM me your full name and postal address. And thank my good wife. LOL Cheers Imtiaz |
