Possible to buy 34mm oyster perpetual at authorized dealer?

Looking for a birthday gift for my sister and was curious if I can walk into an auth dealer and find one.

Not impossible. Will require you visit several ADs. Good luck on the hunt

I really hope so. I know it'll be a grind to find one but it's not like I'm looking for a Daytona or a Sub :) Thank you!

OP is tough just now.
If you’re ok with one of the non bright colours you’ve got a better chance.

Got it! I'm looking for 34mm. Either silver, black, or blue, nothing colorful. Thanks!

I recently bought one of these for myself (prefer smaller watches) and it took a few months of searching. Found a blue one locally to try on, but wore too small. Then reached out to an AD a couple hours away that I'd worked with before and they happened to have a silver, which I came in and bought.

Looking at secondary market pricing, the 34 seems to be going for about 20% over MSRP, vs. up to 3x MSRP for a 41mm in a hot color.

But I'd start looking soon, cast a wide-ish net, and be persistent.

You might also still find some 115200 (old style OP Date 34mm) in dealer cases. It's more like a slightly shrunken DJ (date, cyclops, PCL) and a bit higher MSRP, but worth being on the lookout for. It's about 1.5mm larger than current 34, though.

Danny, thank you. I been on the horn calling AD's all day but no luck. I'll continue to try but I did see OP on Jomashop. However, they're saying 3-5 weeks to ship. I bought a $500 watch from them but don't think I'll purchase something form $5k+. Thanks

I recently bought a 115200 OP Date that sit in the dealer case. It is a discontinued 34mm model with a date, which is effectively a 34mm DJ. I saw it on a Friday but didn’t pull the trigger, but it didn’t have any taker over a weekend, which is unusual for a busy Rolex boutique. Felt really lucky as I was looking for a vintage size Rolex. They are out there so good luck!

DavidSW, who’s a forum favorite secondary dealer, has them for about a thousand over retail and I think anything he advertises is in stock. If you’re in GA he’s also not too far (Orlando).

Personally, I’d visit a few ADs in person to better gauge the situation.

Nope. I’m in the Bay Area and this was the AD in Santa Clara. Blue dial.

There was another forum member who is based in LA also posted the same watch that weekend. I think Rolex has a bunch of shipments of that discounted watch is early August, and I was luck enough to catch it.

You should consider that pink DJ, although that would really stretch your budget. Good luck.

Dude, I’m not sure you can walk into an AD and find anything for sale. However the few things I’ve seen in the cases in recent months were ladies watches with diamonds…

Yes it's possible. Back in May I went into my AD to have them install an EZ Link on my 36mm OP. While we were there my wife wanted to try on 31mm and 34mm watches to narrow down what size she wanted. As luck would have it, they had the new 34mm OP blue dial sitting in the case. It had come in the week before.

My wife fell in love with it so I emailed my SA after we left to ask him to set it aside for me. I paid a deposit over the phone to hold it and then I surprised her with it for Mother's Day. We went in on that Friday and she was totally surprised when my SA brought it out for her and the watchmaker came out to size it.

This past Friday I was in looking at watches and they had 2 yachtmasters in rose gold on oyster flex, a YM2, multiple datejusts, and just a ton of incredible vintage pieces including a $150,000 1665 double red seadweller complete set, a $50,000 5508 small crown sub, four 1675 GMT Masters, a 5512, a 5513, and tons of other stuff. My SA got everything out and I tried all of them on while we chatted.

Seen a few white dial ones around in the Midwest, too. Also, not to get into semantics but technically there's no such thing as a 34mm DJ; the DJ is 31 or 36, while the OP Date (RIP) is 34.

Yes you’re right. DJ never have a 34mm version. What I was trying to say is that the OP Date is configured to be just like the current DJ in that it has polished lugs, polished bracelet and polish dome bezel, but just slightly smaller than a DJ 36. That’s probably why Rolex kill the OP Date because with DJ now offering Oyster bracelet and some bezel, it’s hard to differentiate between the DJ and OP Date except for the difference in case size.

The 34mm is the "date"

That may be. I wonder if it may also have had to do with the movement change. OP/OPD used to share the 3130/3135 with the OP/DJ 36, but when the OP34 shrunk a bit, it switched to the 2232, shared with the 28/31mm versions. Perhaps the date window didn't line up well enough for a date version? Or perhaps it was just a slow enough seller that continuing the line wasn't deemed the best use of resources.

I just spoke to my AD this week and he was happy to have an OP34 (I think bright blue) in stock. In Toronto, they are definitely not all spoken for, but got to move fast when they come in.

It’s a weird one in that regard, since both supply and demand seem on the lower side (for a stainless Rolex, that is). So while it’s not a matter of where you are on “the list” this appears to be very much of a “right place, right time” scenario.
