AD offered me Cosmograph Daytona 116503 and I passed

I went to see my SA yesterday to get my 126711CHNR band adjusted and I was offered a Cosmograph Daytona 116503 but because it didn't "grab me" I passed, was that a bad choice?
I typically acquire only what I like, not what is offered (exception was the 126711CHNR) but that has grown on me enough to get the band adjusted so I might actually wear it.

It's never a bad choice if you pass on something that does not speak to you.

You should be buying watches you love not because they grow on you…and might actually wear it…. IMO.. made the right choice by passing in the Daytona

I like many Daytonas but I'm not a fan of this particular reference. For those that don't sell like me, spending an extra $17k isn't worth it.

TT is taste specific, but any Daytona is nearly impossible to acquire at retail. My TT black dial is my favorite watch at the moment. With that said, you could’ve flipped for a minor profit, if that isn’t on your radar then you did well. Let someone else who likes TT enjoy it.

Over-hyped watch, not the easiest to read, and YOU did not want it.
It can go to someone else in 5 minutes.
You were not in love with it, and likely would have flipped it after a while anyway.
Your decision was a smart one. That money can go elsewhere in the future.

You did the right thing, why would any true watch lover buy something they don't actually love?

I am in the same boat, even though i admire the Daytona for what it is and actually love a good chrono I just am not in love with the Daytona. Its incredibly popular and there are a lot of them around which also turns me off having one. Another thing is it wears quite small and lacks a date function which is important to me.

I love Daytona’s but the TT has never looked attractive to me. I would also pass on it. I would take any other Daytona on oyster bracelet.

I love the fact that it wears small. It makes my wrist look massive! I just look down at my wrist and think “I am a beast of a man”.

I also like that you cannot read it. I hate talking to strangers. If someone asks me the time I can hold up my wrist and say “I can’t read this damn thing. Look how small it is abs look at all these dials!”

No date function is yet another plus. I’m terrible at remembering people’s birthdays.

I don't think you made your motivations clear enough so you're getting responses that don't really answer your query.

You usually only buy Rolexes you like (to wear, presumably) but sometimes you buy for other reasons. What reasons?

If FOMO on an investment opportunity has prompted your enquiry then just be clear.

If not then I don't understand your post. I mean people get offered stuff all the time, in the supermarket, over the phone, on their doorstep...somehow they manage to make their own call on it.

First why would anyone buy a watch and not wear it,and bracelet adjustment is real easy to do with the correct size screwdriver. And why would anyone buy any watch that was offered to them if they did not want to own and wear it.

You can't buy something you don't like.

I've passed on the BLNR twice now. It just doesn't do it for me. When you put it on, you know.

Only buy what you want and like.

I passed on one of these from a Rolex store at an airport.
The sales rep said: I have two tone Daytona with black dial. Do you want to see it?
I politely declined. She also had the new Bluesy, did not take it as well.

I could have made a handsome profit on it as it was also tax free.

I buy the watches I like, if a watch doesn't appeal then I don't buy, so well done you've left the watch for someone else to buy.

Honestly, asking other people if it is "bad" that you passed on buying an expensive watch that you didn't want is just bizarre. Why don't you say at least why you think it was potentially a bad choice?
