Should coloured OP 41 be ceased - same as Patek Nautilus 5711/1A?

So Patek stopped the Nautilus due to the bubble it was driving and the aura of MIDAS about its watches bursting creating long term damage to the brand. Are the OP41 colors doing the same? Should they be ceased to tame the brand and protect its loyal base?

No. The Oyster Perpetual is full of untapped potential.

More dial colors.
More dial variations - Romans, etc.
More bracelets options.
Add TT variants.

Unlimited potential.

The colors started last year! The 5711 started many years before.

OP range is but a tiny part of the entire Rolex range.

In terms of hype, aura, bubble or whatever else, it is nothing compared to the Daytona’s or Pepsi’s.

It’s existence or non existence would barely make a dent in the world of Rolex watches.

I think it’s an incorrect assumption initially then and off base comparison of the two lines. In my opinion, the new OP line opened more doors and does not need to be “tamed.”

Umm I’m not sure if you realized that patek released another steel nautilus. And it goes for 300k plus

What? What? What? Are you mad?

Are you saying that the OP41 is the grail watch and the only watch that customers really want and it’s going for 4 times msrp?

What the hell are you saying?

Hoping the colored dial will perhaps become more valuable?

Cancel them NO! Perhaps cease certain colors and add in new ones every couple years would be great and keep them fresh!

I agree. There's a false equivocation here: The Nautilus built the PP hype over many years, while the OP was introduced into a similar hype and became emblematic of it. There are many "it" Rolexes and, unlike Patek, they are not deflecting attention away from the rest of the lineup, in fact they are drawing more of it.

You don't have the same dichotomy as PP, either. A Nautilus is the ultimate status symbol, while a Calatrava can collect dust in a dealer's case for months and may need to be sold at discount. Yes, a colorful OP41, Panda or Pepsi sell before even being unpacked, but the DDs and (non-jeweled) DJs aren't exactly lingering.
