Dierent cases of Panerai watches

Hello there
Please ... can you or someone from the Forum friends really explain to me the difference between ancient and modern Panerai cases? Well, in the photos they are not noticeable at all and even that of the "cut corners" that they once explained to me I do not notice much either. The new models, for example, the case of the 1084 differs a lot visually with the 1312 ?. What is the general preference of Panerai lovers?

Older is better is the general preference as defined by greater water resistance.
