Is a Sub solid enough?

Actually, I don’t care about this stupid question, my goal here is to draw attention on a specific subject: follow a First Aid Training, this might save a life!

It doesn't just happen in the movies, it can happen anywhere (at the grocery store, at the gas station,…).

Obviously, as a doc, I already got trained, but nothing of what I’ve done is restricted to medical professionals!

Rapidly diagnosing a cardiac arrest and starting a cardiopulmonary resuscitation is accessible to everyone, really!

That’s what saved the life of this cyclist, found unconscious in the street as I came back home this Tuesday evening.

The patient got back a spontaneous breathing and a sinusal rhythm after defibrillation (external electric shock) performed by the rescue team and is now doing fine (he got coronary stent).

Here’s a pic of the watch I wore during the resuscitation.

Btw, it was my birthday, how crazy and satisfying is that!!

Thanks for the info, will install the app! Things went pretty quickly (except the long minutes while waiting for the rescue team...) and I was focused on the CPR but I thought about it afterwards, maybe we could have stopped a public transport bus and check if they had an automated external defibrillator (I’m not even sure about that).

You're totally right

And for everyone, first rule is that the rescuer doesn't have to put himself in danger (hence parked my car with warnings on etc.), we have to avoid secondary accident!

Dictionary says "a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities."

Good job Doc I am very familiar with the battery operated AED'S they are on most of the tugs I run. Money well spent at about $1500.

Agree 100%....in 2021, if you pay for the person's coffee behind you in line you are a hero; I have a much different mindset. Good job OP, but he is trained to save lives and saved a life. I'm thinking that is just a normal business day for him. In my 20 years as a LEO, I suppose I'd be a hero on a a daily basis as I did what I was trained to do; I even risked my life on occasion, where's my parade?

Quick update: talked on the phone with the patient this morning, he doesn't have any neurological or motor sequelae

Exactly and don't you also follow a oath that basically makes this your job. Agreed a great citizen.

And since the thread is nothing short of clickbait like on other social media I will actually answer the question.

Yes a sub is probably one of the most solid references. Wear it and use and abuse it. After 10 yrs or so send it in to RSC and it will come back as good as new for the next 10. Rinse and repeat until you die and then hand down to the next generation.
