Tudor & Rolex GMTs in the same collection

Thought I’d share my thoughts. I’ve had the Tudor for a couple of years now. I bought it for a few reasons, mainly for its look and feel on the wrist and for its historic place in Tudor’s lineup.

I recently, and luckily, added a Rolex BLRO to my collection. Before picking it up, I wondered if it would make the Tudor redundant. Well, I put the Tudor on today after not having worn it since receiving the Rolex, and I can report that it definitely stands independently.

They are very different watches and I believe can easily live together in the same collection.

Here are a few side by side shots that are, of course, the main reason for this post ;)

Definitely room for both in a collection as they are similar only in function. Aesthetically, very different even though they share a similar color scheme. The Tudor being more matte with the subdued aluminum bezel, primarily brushed finish, and matte dial. If there are collections consisting of multiple Rolex GMTs, then a Tudor + Rolex combo works as well.

I own the Rolex 116710LN (black version) and the Tudor GMT

Makes more sense to own the two variants that add variety and functionality to a small collection rather than two the same colour.

I own both and feel the same way. They are very different from each other and pair nicely in a collection.

I think this is why I love the BB GMT so much. The vibe I love but with a 70 hour power reserve. It feels like the best of both generations.

BB GMT and 116710 BLNR owner here, love them both. Don't have any plans to get rid of either anytime soon.

Same for me as well as a 16710 Pepsi. I also have an Exp2 Polar, so I have room for 4 GMTs between Rolex and Tudor in my collection and they can all stand alone and distinct in their own ways.

Well you need the Rolex when the Tudor date starts to fail.

One of them looks more masculine than the other.

That’s definitely one perspective. The LN is a great one. Enjoy!

Ha! I’ve had the issue fixed once and so far so good. Not enough to pull me away from the watch.

The Tudor does have that matte dial vintage vibe.

At the time I bought the Tudor I never expected to cross paths with the BLRO. After the surprise BLRO offer I wondered what it would mean for my Tudor. Turns out they serve entirely different functions for me and the Tudor probably gets more wrist time in the average week. If I’m being honest, I probably would’ve bought a BB58 if I’d have known a BLRO was coming a couple years down the road but now that I’ve got both I enjoy them in different ways and neither will be going anywhere anytime soon.
