Are Tudor or their Dealers Orchestrating an Upcharge?
Today I visited 2 Tudor dealers to enquire about a BB58 on a bracelet.
At both dealers it was suggested to me I could buy the BB58 in a very short time if I opt for a Nato or Leather strap as they were mainly receiving them from Tudor in this configuration. They then suggested that a bracelet could be obtained from Tudor shortly after and I would have both straps. I declined as I have plenty of leather and nato straps and the watch is not worth a thousand dollars more to me. Wondering if Tudor are deliberately sending out their most popular watches on leather and nato straps then profiting from selling the bracelet separately? Given the bracelets seem to be readily separately available it's not a scarcity issue. Or maybe it is poor market research on the most desirable configuration of the watch by Tudor? |

Maybe it's the dealers who are doing it

Tudor are one of the few brands that charge you the same for a bracelet afterwards as if you bought it with the watch. I therefore think they genuinely don’t have a bracelet option watch for you but could order it separate.

I bought my Black Bay 41 on bracelet it was only slightly more expensive than any other strap option.
I’ve seen online that the bracelets seem to sell for around 1k It made much more sense to buy on the bracelet and chose other types later than the other way round. Maybe dealers have finally twigged and have been left with the nato and leather options. |

I had to wait a bit for the bracelet version recently and did see the leather one in store a week or two before mine arrived.
Im not actually all that fond of the bracelet and am looking to buy a few different straps to try in its place. |

I think it's more that the bracelet versions sell first so the nato and leather are just what they have in stock. Same thing at my AD. They usually have 58s and GMTs in stock but almost never on bracelet.

Tudor should go back to including the fabric strap "free" with the leather or bracelet options, like they used to. The fabric straps are ok, but not great as a standalone option.

I agree. I think Tudor took a turn when they stopped this and it was not for the best. I typically buy Tudors on the bracelet but have gotten to where it does not matter as I have an extra BB 41 and 58 bracelet. I wear my Harrods BB on the bracelet almost exclusively but have my others on leather or NATO's.

The BB58 on the bracelet is the most popular and so sells out first.
If you're happy to wait, order one on a bracelet.

Nothing is Free, hence probably why you quoted it. But I would take a $50 price hike to include the Nato. They are so well made.

I think it’s purely down to availability.
With my GMT, I worked it out with the AD - the saving is minimal when considering buying on a bracelet then adding a leather strap versus buying on leather and adding bracelet. Buying on a bracelet is more expensive initially, and if you want to add the leather strap, you also need to factor in the buckle. This roughly equates to the same as buying on leather which is initially cheaper, then adding the bracelet. Not sure what the figures look like with the NATO option… |

Interesting thread. I don’t have any Tudors, but if I were to buy one, I think I’d actually buy one on a NATO strap. Rolex does bracelets so well, but unfortunately don’t offer much variety in the bracelet department on professional models. I think the Tudors on NATO straps look great — as do the Omegas.

The first chrono sport (I had blue) were sold with bracelet and nato. Shortly afterwards the nato became a payable option. The brand is just fine tuning its bottom line like any of us would too…

Yes, though I don't recall prices going down after they stopped including them, and as I recall, they cost around $200 if you ordered a replacement from an AD.

I just bought a NOS a Heritage Ranger on leather with the extra camo band. They told me that they were returning the extra straps to Tudor… Now I have to plunk down $850 if I want the bracelet as well.
