WTS: Wakmann Triple Date Chronograph
Price: USD 3,000.00
Description This is the Wakmann Triple Date Chronograph. Interestingly, Wakmann was founded in the United States in the 1940s. Previously a distributor, Wakmann set up shop in New York to manufacture their own watches. Their partnership with Breitling was a successful one, producing pocket and military watches in conjunction with Breitling. During the 1950s and 1960s, Wakmann introduced their triple date chronographs that housed the popular Valjoux 72C movement, or 72 Calendar movement. These were produced in predominantly stainless steel and resembled chronographs that were at a far higher price point like Heuer or Universal Geneve. This dial variation is particularly attractive with a reverse panda colour and a 38mm case size, which was considered big during the period of production. Condition This Wakmann Triple Date is in good overall condition. The timepiece has just gone through an overhaul and functions perfectly. There is some light aging on the dial which is common for its age. The caseback engravings are still clear. The Gigandet hands are likely later replacements.
