Excited to share with you guys my newest acquisition, a limited edition Moritz Grossmann Benu. I've always respected Moritz Grossmann and their commitment to in-house manufacturing and ultra high-end finishing. Unfortunately, their 41mm offerings are too large for my tastes and the 37mm offerings were slim to none. Enter Wei Koh. This is an 8 piece limited run produced in conjunction with Wei Koh and Revolution magazine. The look of this watch spoke to me the second I saw it. People might call me crazy, but I chose this over a Cornes de Vache and a Laurent Ferrier. Let me explain...

The watch features a back to basics approach, with a glossy/rich creme grand feu enamel dial; to quote Tim Mosso. "it looks like perpetually wet paint". The dial is adorned with deep black stylized Roman numerals and classically inspired minute track. The Grossmann logo was relocated and discretely placed ontop of the minute track at 6 o'clock, so as not to disturb the harmony of the dial. The hour and minute hands are painstakingly crafted by hand and are heated to a purple hue; these are some of the most delicate looking hands I've ever seen.

The movement itself is exceptionally finished (my camera does not do it justice); the attention to detail and finishing may be better than my Lange 1. I do not say that lightly. The crown wheel and click feature black polish. The balance cock features extraordinary engraving. Double spiraling on the ratchet wheel. There is deep glashütte striping. Gold chatons. Grenage on the baseplate. All screws are heated purple (a color more difficult to achieve than blue). Clear sapphires used instead of rubies to complete the look. It's honestly just an impressive piece of finishing, hats off to Moritz Grossmann. Might I also add, the detent and sound made when winding is an utter pleasure, among the best I've experienced.

The 37mm case may scare off many, but it truly wears larger thanks to the minimal bezel and elongated lugs, which have a wonderful curvature and bevel to them.

Anyway, here are some quick pics.

Congratulations, definitely a watch for those with exceptional attention to detail, both the watchmaker and the wearer. The sapphires with gold chatons are a nice touch.

Thanks for the kind words all.

Funny how things work out. I checked with Revolution on this watch more than a month ago and was told all 8 were sold. That sent me on a path to either a cornes de vache or Ferrier. Something told me to check again, one day before I was going to strike a deal for a Ferrier regulator. Lo and behold, a person dropped out and I snagged that last spot.

Cool story! Congrats.

Just a question: is the crown in normal position in the pictures? It seems quite "detached" from the case (I can't say it better, sorry - language barrier I suppose).

That gorgeously functional dial hides a fireworks display on the other side! Congrats, I think it’s incredible.

So good in my opinion. Congrats.

I’ve been one that was turned off my the standard MG logo / name on the dial. They’ve had some releases with a simplified logo / name which to me fit with the style of the watches better but this one (with the positioning of that simplified logo at 6) is best.

Like you, the smaller sizes were also what I was interested in. Congrats again.

It wasn't pushed back all the way in. I was an idiot and forgot to push the crown back in after setting the time. Excitement got the better of me. Haha

People at work are going to start thinking I'm strange for starting at the back of my watch all day. Hahaha

I really hope they start offering more under the 37mm case (and atleast use the "M. Grossmann" logo instead of the standard one). Would do wonders for opening up the brand to a larger audience.

Wow that's right up my alley at 37mm with a white dial with printed Romans. Looks fantastic.

Thanks! I’m with you, I’ve gradually shifted my collection to smaller timepieces. 40mm is the largest watch I currently own.

I believe there were one or two available a couple weeks after launch. I actually got mine (last one available) a couple of months after launch. What’s interesting is I was initially told all 8 were sold. I checked the website again weeks later and it was randomly available to add for checkout. The watches were made to order, but my watch was shipped quickly after purchase. Apparently, someone cancelled their order after placing it and I was able to collect that watch.
