INCOMING 126622 Yachtmaster Slate Perfection

Good morning everyone...I just wanted to write a quick follow up to my last post where I was debating on trading the 116613LB for the 126622 YM.

My new Yachtmaster Slate/Rhodium arrived this morning and my jaw is on the floor. I have owned nearly every other Rolex reference at one time or another but for some reason never connected with pictures of the YM so other watches always jumped ahead of it in line. In person, this watch is absolutely STUNNING! There is no other word to describe it.

I debated briefly between the dark blue and the slate and (having never seen the slate/rhodium dial in person) I just trusted my gut and jumped in with both feet. I reached out to my favorite grey dealer and 16 hours later...here she is!

I am getting ready to size the bracelet but was too excited to share some initial impressions not to post first :)

The case is curvy and gorgeous. The bezel is less prominent than it is in pictures. The slate dial explodes outside in the direct sunlight. The light blue accents are perfect and attract just the right amount of visual attention. The overall height on the wrist is perfect and it definitely wears smaller than my 116610LV Hulk.

So far, it is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I will follow up with more pics shortly...thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on my other thread!

Fantastic!!! Congrats! And what a great shot. I feel like the inability to capture what this watch truly looks like in person is part of the reason for its lack of popularity. But once you see one live or on your own wrist, it's simply stunning in every way.

Thanks! My thoughts exactly...at the last minute I almost switched to the blue dial when I was discussing it with my dealer, but I trusted my gut and this thing is incredible. Especially outdoors...the dial just explodes with gorgeous patterns and the color changes with every angle of the wrist.

Big congrats such a beautiful watch.

It’s also IMO the most comfortable Rolex model and it literally disappears on the wrist.

Enjoy that stunning watch.

It is a gorgeous piece, but I'd rather we keep it hush-hush between connoisseurs. Let the masses enjoy their Subs while we savour our YMs.

The slate dial looks amazing and I might swap my pt dial for the slate at some point. It's nice to have options.

Thank you, my friend! It is extremely comfortable, much more so than my Submariners or GMTs

Thanks! Believe it or not, this shot was taken with my iPhone 12 Mini and then post-processed in Photoshop Express!

Damn, now you have me questioning my choice of the blue dial that I have on order. The high quality pictures of the slate dial are stunning.

I will say...I am thrilled with the way those two pics turned out, but I will also say I have STILL never seen a picture that truly captures the magic of the Slate/Rhodium dial...absolutely mesmerizing.

I ordered the watch without having ever seen the dial in person. It definitely exceeded my expectations.

Congratulations and welcome to the club! I got sucked in the opposite way-wasn’t really on my radar until my AD pulled it out of the coffin to show me

Oh thats good to know thanks. I was just thinking 126622 and forgetting it came out earlier. I'm surprised you don't see more for sale with the upgrade considering there are so many early ones on the market with the pt dial.

The early ones you see with the pt dial are mostly the 16622, plenty of those, they were made from 1999 to 2012. No dial swap possible via the official RSC route. The rarer ones are the 116622 pt dial made from 2012 to 2016, these can have the dial swap for blue or slate.

Thanks! I can definitely see why...the Rhodium/Slate is really something hard to describe in person. It is also quite different in natural sunlight vs harsh interior light.
