Well, after a big b-day present I have a incoming to top it.
I guess I am a bold face liar declaring I wouldn’t be buying another Rolex after my Pepsi but I have a good excuse. I gave myself a personal fitness goal for my 50th birthday. I whipped myself in top shape with some hardcore weight lifting, dropped 20lbs and back to benching over 300lbs. 6’3” 200lbs now. Passed all those invasive routine 50yr old medical test with flying colors.
I told myself if I did this I would reward myself for the discipline. One interesting side effects of losing this weight is my wrist is smaller at 6 3/4”. So as a reward I am adding a heavy hitter that has been absent from my collection for 30 years and it should fit my wrist better now than when I was a young heavier tank. I called in a big favor to a very good trusted seller and he made it happen. On a side note of what is incoming: I club raced Porsche 930’s back in the day so this particular model is appropriate. It’s a sickness.

Congrats on the training it’s great for your mind and body - it’s my number one motivation in life.
That’s a very good lift for your weight, I’m around 220 pounds and 5.10 and my maximum bench is around 130kg (although I don’t like to push it I’ve had a lot of injuries including surgery on my shoulder.) Look forward to a picture of the watch! |

Well, I have to share the unnecessary drama from FedEx. My new watch was shipped overnight with a am delivery as every other Rolex I have purchased the last few decades. The FedEx truck drives up my driveway to deliver my new prize and at my door he informs me my package was crushed and submerged underwater for a period of time. WTF.
I looked the dripping wet package over and knew my trusted seller (Thanh Takuya) knows how to wrap a Rolex properly. Turns out water got all the way though multiple plastic layers but stopped at the final plastic envelope that had the full box set in. The outerbox was not damaged in any way. I managed to get a few pics and then started to rain. Hands down THE most comfortable Rolex I have ever put around my wrist. I will get onto a review after some wrist time but needless to say I am very impressed and oh that new bracelet squeak.

I just use a Samsung Note 9 and good outdoor lighting. I can tell now that the Panda is gonna be a supermodel watch when taking pics. There is a “x-factor”.

Thanks everyone. I remember someone on the forum got pulled out to sea from a riptide and swam to a oil drilling platform. He said his biggest motivation to keep swimming is he was going to reward himself with buying a Rolex Sub. I always remembered that and used a new grail Rolex for my (small in comparison) goal of health/lifestyle change. At 50yr, (feel like I am 29yr) you start to realize it’s time to get focused on more goals and perhaps indulge more.
I actually used the Daytona’s super hype as a reason to not look at it and boy was I short sided. The watch is it’s own animal the way it wears and looks much like my YMII. I also believe the movement is damn near perfect and I didn’t want to wait much longer if Rolex decided to tweak the 4130. Much like my YMII, the Daytona winds smoother than the 32 series and has a very high level of tactile button push that oozes flagship level Rolex. Legibility was also a reason why I chose the white over black. My eyes can easily read the time at a glance even though the dial has a lot going on with the subdials. I get why it’s a superstar and waiting to buy a Daytona has shown to be a bad idea. Here is one more pic from today I found.
