Quick Question About The "Red Sub"
Could someone please tell me when these were produced and what the typical price they would command? Thanks

Now buying a Red sub is and can be tricky....
You must do your homework on this one dates of production go from 1967 to about 1974, but i am sure i will be corrected on this. There are about 4 dial variants metres first and different fonts. there are also different bracelets. prices range in sterling from £5000 to about £20000 depening on condition, how complete the watch is. There are some forum members with much more extensive knowledge than my self so hopefully they will add there dimes of information for you. |

that's quite a first post, and maybe just a bit grandiose?
i do love that 'red' . how long have you been in Bangkok? Are you an expat or just there for business or visit? |

I would start by going to www.doubleredseadweller.com and reading the info available there. There is a ton of info out there and there are so many subtle nuances with Red Sub's that you have to be very careful.

According to my Vintage Rolex Sports Models book (by Martin Skeet & Nick Urul), the Red 1680 Submariner was launched in 1966 and replaced by the white dial in 1974. However, the white dial 1680's were not launched worldwide and some red dial 1680's could be found in some world markets up to 1980.
