Philly Rolex Thief
I’m in the suburbs but work in the city often as well as dine there. Gotta be extra cautious but it does sound like they got him.
Wonder where he was flipping them. https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news...eries/3079867/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have travelled to Philly many, many times wearing Langes, JLC, and all sorts of Rolex. Never a problem, really. Philadelphia is the “ City of Brotherly Love.” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Horrible. I haven’t been wearing my watches out of the house. These people who commit these crimes have nothing to fear. Sad times for our world.

Yeah, that's own slogan but this year we've had over 500 murders. Like any large city you just have to be aware of your surroundings and try not to flash too much. This young generation have no respect for anyone anymore. What happened to the good old days where people had respect for earch others??? It's a shame but that's life in todays world, so sad.

If they don't know you are wearing a rolex it doesn't get stolen. Of course, the whole point of wearing a rolex is to show it off.

It's all about assessing your surroundings and situation. I wear my Rolex to Ravens games and tailgates because I'm not going to get jacked in a 70,000 seat stadium or tailgating with hundreds of people. But if I go up there for dinner or to walk around the harbor with my wife no way in hell am I wearing a Rolex or any other expensive watch. Situational awareness is key, as is remembering your life it much more important than wearing a shiny metal thing on your wrist. |

As if 2021 was the first year people had ever been mugged.
The media is blowing this up to sell blood. These thieves are not targeting people “because of their Rolex watches”. It’s winter you news clowns! These thieves are mugging people like they have since time immemorial. They have no idea what they’ll nab until they nab it. |

I lived in Philly for four years. I wouldn't hesitate to wear a Rolex in Center City or Old City. This is an aberration. I was gifted a Rolex by my parents just prior to my medical school graduation and I wore it out around town for my last two months there and never felt uncomfortable or worried.
For those who don't know; Old City, Center City, and Rittenhouse make up the bulk of the commercial sections of the city running from east to west. It's essentially all businesses, hotels, high end brownstones/apartments, and restaurants running from the Delaware to UPenn/Drexel. Unless you really turn on an obscure side street or are out extremely late at night, it's pretty hard to not be surrounded by people constantly. I think common sense prevails here. And while I am not in any way blaming the victims (no one should ever have to worry about having things stolen from them), a little situational awareness in any city goes a long way. |

For the past two decades, up until 2019, Crime in major US Cities has been down and quality of life has gone up.
Ivory Tower woke elites decided the evil USA needed to be reimagined. You can see the results. Ironically those most marginalized have suffered the greatest losses. A Rolex can always be replaced, a human being cannot. |

Bail "reform" and Defunding the Police have resulted in substantial increases in brazen armed robberies. In large part, you have the State's Attorneys in both Baltimore and Philly to blame. The political push to heavily modify or eliminate Qualified Immunity for Law Enforcement will only serve to make a bad situation worse.

I agree. I would argue that it’s safe to wear a Rolex in the overwhelming majority of this country. Actually, greater than 99% of it. I don’t think that it’s safe in some areas of our biggest cities: Philly, Baltimore, LA, Chicago, NYC, SF, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Lived in Philadelphia my whole life and go to the city 2-3 times a month for dinner and always wear a Rolex when I do. There is always crime in major city’s as long as you’re aware of your surroundings you’ll be fine.
