Can a green Rolex submariner be a daily choice in a watch rotation or is it a niche w
Do any Rolex 126610LV owners wear their green sub with a shirt and tie or is it strictly a casual dress choice? I had a submariner with date as my original nice watch in 1996 and wore it daily for many years before I bought a dress watch and then other stainless steel sport watches. I traded it for something 8 years ago and was thinking of adding one back. I like that a green bezel sub is a different take but am questioning if it will be strictly a weekend jeans or shorts watch and a traditional sub would get weekday wrist time as well. I am curious to read how LV owners wear their watches and how they fit in their collections.

I think it’s more subtle and can me be worn in any situation. It’s when the the sun hits it, that it becomes a statement piece

I think the LV is a great watch and can be worn all the time if you choose. Always a conversation piece. I own the Hulk and the ND and find I gravitate to the ND because it does not stand out the same as a Hulk.

These responses are helpful and the type of advice I am looking for. I like having unique watches and to me both (no date) classic sub with its symmetry and a green bezel sub are just subtle variations on a common watch in this community that is near and dear to most Rolex fans. Just curious if people that own them tend to not wear them when dressed professionally and relegate them to casual clothing. The comment about your watch, do what you want is not very constructive so thanks for that profound statement.

I personally would not wear a green dive watch with a suit in a professional setting, but there is not any enforceable rule that says you can't (and it depends on the setting - my profession tends toward the more traditional end of the spectrum). A bright green bezel definitely lends itself to more casual or perhaps business casual attire where that pop of fun color is more appropriate and less severe than a black bezel. These comments are based more on my background as a hobbyist student of traditional men's style rather than any watch expertise.

I wore mine all the time. No one even knows unless you happen to get close to another Rolex fan. I think in my 3 years of daily wearing it, two people noticed it was green.

My two cents - I don’t have a green sub but I do have a BLNR and a Grand Seiko SBGE257 which has a green dial and green ceramic bezel. Personally because I have a number of watches, I generally grab the green dial/bezel watch when I’m wearing something else green. Just feels right. With that said I wouldn’t have an issue wearing it as a daily, but it’s just not as versatile as a regular sub or explorer. Black goes with everything. My GS the green is more subtle though (darker). The LV green really pops, and it’s on ceramic which makes it quite shiny. So I would feel less like it works well for a daily, unless you want your watch to really stand out (or if you wear green everyday it won’t stand out as much). Here’s my GS |
