Daytona hands down, but as always with watch geeks. The general population has no idea nor interest in rare Rolex.

What watch will drag more attention on the wrist

By color alone, the glint of a green dial would naturally catch more attention.

I have a yellow gold Submariner 116618 black dial, yellow gold Daytona 116508 black dial with gold subdials, and a yellow gold Day-Date 40 w/ white Roman dial. The Day-Date 40 is significantly flashier or prominent compared to the gold sport watches I have. To my eye at least. I have no problem wearing a bold gold watch at all, but even to me, the DD40 stands out more than my others. I'm not sure if the dial makes any difference - it's the bezel, bracelet, and case flash that stands out the most.

This is basic physics. “Catch attention” = what gets seen. To see, you need light. What will reflect more light?

Fluted bezel and president bracelet do this FAR more than a Daytona with flat bezel and flat oyster links. The DD reflects the light in every direction, making it more likely to “catch attention.”

Not to mention that gold/black has a higher contrast ratio than gold/green, so again gold/black more likely to catch attention.

If your question is what do watch nerds prefer, well on TRF that’s the Daytona by far.

The sunburst green on the Daytona is killer.

DayDate for sure. Light reflection off the bezel and the presidential bracelet would do it.

The green dial of the Daytona is beautiful of course but it doesn't overpower your eye more than the fact that it's a full PM watch...

Both will draw eyes just based on them being yellow gold. I’d say the DD will be a bit more flashy with the president bracelet and fluted bezel given how they catch the light.

I would say it’s not a huge difference between these two though

If one is worried about attention neither of these are good choices. With that said the green dial on YG certainly pops a lot more than black dial IMHO. Thus it would draw a bit more attention.

Weird post.
Are you deliberately wanting to draw attention, or downplay it?
Either watch will not downplay.

I think the DD will actually pull in more eyes because the fluted bezel shines more as well the bigger contrast with the dial

The DD is blinding from a mile away. The daytona is only when you look closely at dial

Don't think the dial makes much difference, it's the yellow gold that grabs the attention.

IMO the Day Date with it's president bracelet and fluted dial will stand out more than the Daytona even with the green dial. DD can be spotted across the street.

I have a YG DD40 white dial and YG black dial Daytona and while they both "pop" the DD seems have more impact. I don't think a green dial would make enough of a difference.

The green dial on the Daytona is a non- factor for flash. From a few feet away at an angle it looks black. You can tell it’s green when you get closer and look dead on. They are all great watches. I think the DD is flashier because it reflects more light. Flash aside. I love gold Daytonas. The green dial is an amazing piece to have in the collection. If you are offered the watch at or near retail, that would be my choice.

If you have the ability to get your choice of these pieces in todays market then you’re a lucky guy.

The fluted bezel of the DD will draw far more attention.

Like others have said, its about how it sparkles light all over the place.

I’m going to disagree with the majority and say DD40. The size, bracelet, and bezel demand much more attention than the Daytona, and only WIS will notice the green dial from more than a few feet away.

The Day Date is a blingy watch and will generate a lot of attention from the Public. However, the Daytona will absolutely draw more attention from watch connoisseurs.

Not sure getting attention is a good thing. Definitely not this attention https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=836163

I'd argue the DD will grab more attention because of the bracelet alone. Especially with a black dial, that's a pretty harsh combo, or should I say has more contrast between the darker face and bracelet.

Aside from the green and gold, the design of the Daytona is much more recognizable to the masses. The DD has the fluted bezel going for it (very bling bling), but not sure how iconic it really is for the average person.
