Misaligned Bezel Pearl in Sub

Recent pick up from my AD, and noticed the Pearl on the bezel is a tad off-center…and yes I know I have OCD.

Not too concerned, but wonder if this is a common imperfection folks have seen on their subs. 🤷🏻*♂️

Very rare and bizarre. I guess without the high magnification it would be imperceptible.

It’s just off-center to the left…you can see a slight gap where some of the silver inverted triangle peeks through on the right side, and there’s no silver visible on the left.

That photo was taken ever-so-slightly left of center. Take another one from straight above it - totally centered.

It’s an optical illusion because of the angle of capture, take a snapshot of it with the date perfectly centered in the Cyclops in much better lighting and you’ll see the difference. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Sure, here are a few more pictures. I’m struggling to photograph it well, but this is the best I was able to get. Not fully certain if it shows what I’m seeing any better, but it is apparent to me when just looking at the watch in person.

It happens to not really annoy me, just happened to notice it…if it is actually off-center, I’m glad to leave it as is.

Misaligned Bezel Pearl in Sub

I used to think mine was misaligned, but then when I laid it perfectly flat, took zoomed in pictures or used a magnifier, it always looked perfectly aligned.

It could look misaligned depending upon the angle of view. At least that was the case for me. I suppose in some cases it could actually be misaligned.

Lucky you that your fingerprints are perfectly centered.

I guess you will find more things that is wrong if you buy a loupe. Maybe a partly handmade watch is not for you?

I think it’s your angle. I’d let it go, even if upon close examination it’s a hair off… have them address it by changing bezel inserts at the first service in 7 years.

Viewing angles will vary and the chances of noticing it day to day are extremely small, the reality is that you are likely going to be the only person who will query this aspect.
There is a degree of hand assembly so this may account for some variation between watches and they are seriously mass produced with estimates of up around 1 million watches per year which is well in excess of any other manufacturers in this class

Also keep in mind that the absolute precise alignment of the bezel insert with another reference point doesn't fundamentally affect the functionality of the watch in any regard.
If it bothers you aesthetically, you can turn it just that little bit further to align the pip better if you wish

Bezel pearl looks ok but isn’t your 12 o’clock marker a thousand miles to the left?

I think it's definitely not worth worrying about. Between the parallax effect and viewing with the naked eye it's imperceptible.

Thanks for all the feedback, not worried in the slightest and it doesn’t bother me whatsoever, I sorta find the imperfection pretty cool…love that they’re not perfectly assembled by machines. Just figured I’d point out what I think I saw here.

It is definitely off center.
I see often the Rolex Pearl arrow not to be spot on
For a company that professes perfection in watch making is a lot
I do not see a gap like that in any Seiko rotating bezel.

This is unnaceptable! Sell me the watch at retail price and go for another new one!

Joke. Do not worry and enjoy the watch, it is almost perfect and it does not matter

Another case of loupes and high magnification that can and will be a Rolex owners worst enemy.

You’re using SEIKO as your standard of bezel alignment???

Nothing wrong here. The blunt reality is that making things perfectly aligned and symmetrical under close inspection is not a part of Rolex DNA. Little things slightly off center is quite common in Rolex.

Do you mean the pearl or the triangle?

I feel extremely fortunate that I can get on a forum and write about a pearl that is off center. We all seem to have too much time on our hands which is a great problem to have. It is totally fine. This is coming from someone who definitely has some ocd issues. I was going to seek therapy, but after reading the op suddenly realized I'm just fine.

If you can’t unsee it you could send photos to RSC and see what they have to say. Most likely you’d need to replace the entire bezel assembly if the triangle and pearl don’t match.

OP, start by taking pictures with a real camera, aligned and with a tripod. Then we can discuss if this is misaligned or not. So far it’s impossible to tell anything from the quality of the images.
