California Dials
What are your thoughts on California Dials?
I personally would love to see Rolex release some modern variants of them on OPs or perhaps the AirKing.

I've never been a fan of the California dial. My DJ has a stick dial, although I also like the Roman numeral dials. It bugs me when the numeral type is mixed, though. Nothing against them, but for me, I'd want all Roman numerals or all Arabic numerals (or none at all).

I like them and wish Tudor would bring that option back on something like the 1926 range.

I hated goofy California dials forever until I got into Panerai. Having learned that Panerai’s early California dials we’re actually marketed by Rolex as Error Proof Dials gave context to their purpose which I now appreciate. Still, not all California dials are created equal and some do it better than others.

California Dials
Did someone said Tudor DD California dial?
There is also if not mistaken a Tudor Day California dial variant as well. They are awesome but pretty expensive (saw a Tudor DD recently on forums for $5k, full set) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Interesting. I always thought they were just goofy dials. Didn’t realize the purpose behind it was for the user to always know where 12 was regardless of how the dial was held. Pretty clever actually.

I do not like these. I like symmetrical and balanced dials.

Not a fan at all. Just looks strange to me. I do think that Tudor is one of the better looking versions of that dial I've seen.

I will say that while I'm not a fan of the California dial in general, I wouldn't mind having one of the original vintage Rolex watches with that dial. It's a great historical piece, but for a new watch, I'd rather have all Arabic or all Roman.

I like them in Panerais but of the 2 people i've showed pictures of California Dials to (1 watch fan, 1 not) they both had the same response:
"Wow, thats dumb!" Thats probably why you dont see more of them out there |
