Issue with Daytona 16520 second chrono hand

Hi members,

I'm having an issue where the chrono second hand on my Daytona 16520 does not reset to 12. I start the chrono, stop it, and then reset it, and it seems to reset to a random position (points to 1pm, 5pm etc). Watch is otherwise keeping proper time.

Has anyone seen this issue before and know of any easy fixes? Or does the watch need to be serviced?

Thank you

If it resets to different positions then a service is in order. If it resets to the same position, simple reset of the chrono seconds hand is needed. Sounds like yours is resetting to random positions.

Do you use the Chrono feature often? It’s always good to use it several times a year (could be why the Chrono hand sticks at random positions).

I would have it serviced at RSC only. I would not let anyone else touch it. Just my opinion.
Good luck. Great watch. I would love to have a 16520. Walked away from one about 15yrs ago and regret it to this day.

Have it serviced by a trusted independent (with Rolex parts account) like Phillip Ridley. I find this route superior to RSC on any vintage or neo-vintage Rolex for myriad reasons that can be unpacked further through search.

thank you for the advice! I think it is due for a service anyway, been a while since the last one. I will send it to my local independent watchmaker, who used to work at RSC and has a parts account.
