Let’s say a stranger damages your Rolex.

How do you move forward? Do you ask to take a photo or their drivers license, as you would if they rear ended you in a car? Ask for their insurance? Take photos of the damage immediately following the incident? I kid, but I’m curious about the correct course of action.

This thought crossed my mind the other day when I was on a cramped plane and people were throwing around their luggage.

I would do nothing. My hand shouldn’t have been in their vicinity. If it got damaged by my negligence I wouldn’t blame someone else.

I think you’d be lucky to get anywhere. Who has insurance in case they damage someone’s watch, can you get insurance for that.

It would end up being hearsay, he said she said, how could you prove it?

Just saying

People often move into YOUR vicinity in places like airplanes. It’s totally possible a passenger could drop their bag right on your lap while attempting to put it in the overhead. Happens all the time.

I also would doubt you would get anywhere unless it was an intentional act of destruction. Just carry good insurance in case something happens.

I’m not worried about someone’s carry on or even any person damaging my Rolex. In my 30+ yrs of flying I’ve never once had someone drop a bag on me. I put my watch through far more than that anyways. Maybe I’m crazy but when people I know show interest, I take it off and hand it to them. If they dropped it, I wouldn’t sue them, it’s my fault for giving it to them. I suggest you keep it in the safe or have it insured.

I think you need to go outside and get some air if this is really what’s on your mind and you honestly felt you needed to share.

You get it insured, you relax and you never have to worry about it again.

My girlfriend's bracelet scratched my Sub when we were exercising together. I immediately took her to small claims court afterwards.

Just give them your damaged watch, instruct them to send it to a Rolex Service Center and give them your address so they can return it to you when it's completely fixed. Tell them it's very expensive and ask them to be careful with it as not to cause any more damage to it.

Lol wishful thinking on doing something. But nothing could be done. Manage your own personal space as best you can in cramped areas and hope for the best.

Is this for real? You’d do nothing. Why were you so close to another person to the point they could damage your watch? I’ve hit watches on doorframes, windows and even other peoples watches walking in confined spaces…what am I going to do file a lawsuit against the building owner for misaligned windows or doorframes, or stop a stranger in a busy street and ask why their wrist hit mine?

As mentioned in my original post, I was in a cramped plane in coach. People are on top of each other back there.

And ya dawg, this is for real. Ya feel?

I had thought about it, but it was more rowdy children I had in mind one time I was in a place full of rowdy children.

I decided that if it ever came to pass, I’d just have to go ‘one of those bad luck situations’.
