Rolex Oyster Perpetual Silver 34 vs 36mm Comparision Shot + Movement Question

Hey,

Do you guys perhaps have any comparison shots of the silver OP in 34 and 36mm? I got to try on a 34mm OP, but it was in pink. I've heard that the 34mm in silver appears larger because of the dial colour. Do you guys perhaps have any comparison pics of both the 34 and 36mm in silver next to each other?

Also, I heard that the 34mm has a smaller power reserve because it uses an older movement. Is it true that the movement is older, or is it updated but has a shorter power reserve because of the watches' smaller size? Do you think that Rolex will update the 34mm with a new movement with a longer power reserve in the near future?

Thanks!

Did you ever check out this thread?

Not 34-36 comparison, but 31-34 (where the 31 is in silver, the 34 in pink). Helps illustrate the point.

To answer your movement question: The movement in the 34 is actually quite an advanced movement, and utilizes the newer "Syloxi" hairspring. It, and other 22xx derivatives, are used in 28, 31, 34 and 37 (YM) models. The PR is still longer than the 31xx series from previous generations of the OP. The old OP34 was larger, and used a 31xx movement, but when it shrank a bit, I guess that one no longer fit.

So, in short, I don't anticipate it getting anything different, as it doesn't seem large enough to accommodate the 32xx series.

What did you think, overall, of the 34 (despite the color)?

I have indeed checked out the thread above. That's the closest I've come to find a photo of what I'm looking for.

I really liked it. I have minuscule wrists that are just above 6 inches in circumference. 36mm works well, but 34mm made the watch sit perfectly centered above my wrist. I think I prefer the single batons too. The only thing that makes me think a bit is the power reserve.

Well, if you're wearing daily, PR won't be an issue. And that's the nice thing about the OP: No date means it's an easy reset if/when it depletes.

Anecdotally, I also find that this watch requires less activity to stay wound than others, so there's that, too.
