Thoughts on this trade? BLNR for BLRO
I have an opportunity to trade a friend my 2018 116710BLNR for a new 126710BLRO (both on oyster bracelets) + $5k from me.
I love my BLNR but the BLRO is really nice especially with the new darker bezel colors compared to the MK1. I know some will say just go with what you like but it's tough. I really like both and I only want one GMT in the collection. Thoughts?

They both serve the same function; the newer one has better power reserve and fit. It is also new which might make a difference depending on the age of the older one.

Not worth the extra 5k for a bezel. Would rather roll the dice in getting one from an AD if it’s possible then you could have both.

I will make that trade, and I think It's fair as BLRO will always have a higher premium, maybe less cash, but yours is old, and you are getting a new on oyster, which is slightly higher than jubilee. go for it

Considering I'm looking for a BLRO to pass down to my kids along with my 116610LN, I'm a little biased.....
Assuming either watch is a long-term keeper, what would you be more personally satisfied with say 5 years from now, the BLRO or an extra $5,000 on your bank statement? |

If the $5 isn’t material to you and you like the other, why not?

while i prefer the BLRO on Jubilee, I'd still strongly consider this as the BLNR does nothing for me.

Based on your collection, I would do the trade. I think the BLRO offers a bit more differentiation to the pieces you already have. Both are great watches, but I think the BLRO is just a tad more special of a piece.

I will never give up my BLNR for the BLRO. If I have the means, I will add the BLRO but never replace it. Why would you? They have the same function and prestige if you consider that important. Both look gorgeous in jubilee or oyster. In some ways, the Blue/Black is so much nicer and more suitable (Day/Night) than the Red/Blue. So there it is.

Do the trade, a new BLRO for around 13K isn’t a bad deal, that is assuming you got the BLNR at retail.

I would not trade a 126710 BLNR for the BLRO, because I actually prefer the colors on the BLNR, but I might make the trade in, your case, to get the new movement. I have found, in a rotation, that the 70+ hour power reserve is a game changer. I can skip a day or two and when I come back to my GMT, it is always running...love it!

A different view: Your 116710 has the much better 3186 caliber compared to the 3285 in the 126710. Therefore, I would NOT do this trade.

Curious how it’s better? I thought the newer caliber is technically superior.

Many posts and some threads describing timekeeping problems of 32xx calibers. This thread might be intetesting: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=786299 Btw, I own a 126710 BLRO, it is a beautiful looking watch, no doubt. I voted to keep the 116710 BLNR. |

I would do that trade easily. Your friend is giving you a good deal at + $5k.
70 hour power reserve is a game changer as others have said. And the BLRO is just the original GMT. The new colors on the Mk 3 dials are amazing and closely resemble the original Bakelite dial. As nice as the BLNR is......the only reason it exists was because they couldn't make a ceramic bezel in blue and red at the time. |

It's also for a different movement and I have the option to switch out bracelets. I don't think I can install a GMT jubilee on a 116710BLNR.
