Lange 1815 flyback chrono - Black or white dial?

I am normally quite a decisive collector, I have always wanted a Lange 1815 chrono and now have the means to purchase one.

I am truely torn between the dial choice

I have previously gravitated towards the black dial, I feel it looked more defined, bold. I have always worn black dialled watches.

The boutique ed - white and blue dial has been growing on me and one is available now. It looks much cleaner - lighter and feel could be dressed down with a range of straps. It looks at times almost clinical though maybe a bit plain ???

Has any one else seen both in hand to compare? How do they look in natural light etc

what would you guys chose?

While not your original question - I've never seen the 1815 Chrono on a bracelet before! Is that an option from Lange?

I was just at the Lange AD yesterday, must admit I'm not a fan of either of these 2 and especially not on that bracelet

I looked at some Saxonia's, 1815, Lange 1, calendars but tbh at that price range I'd much rather get a Patek (many options) or a JLC Duometre

I’d be interested to know why

The finishing seems to par , the movement Is unique and superbly finished , the ergonomics of the slimmer cased fly back chrono seem characterfull as well as fitting well on the wrist

I like the Patek 5170g and it’s simplicity - but I feel it is just to simple. The 5070g had always been my most liked chrono but more and more I can’t forgive the movement size mismatch

I’m keen to hear some feedback 👍

What a great position to be in-absolutely top notch watch.
If it was me, and it will never be me, I would go black dial but not on metal bracelet.
Having said that, I would spend most of my time looking at the reverse of it....
Good luck.

Yeah, me too. Forget the dial color, is the bracelet a thing?

I saw both in person and went with the black dial though I don't think you can go wrong with either option. The white dial actually might be more versatile when it comes to different strap colors. I still scroll through Insta looking at different strap options: https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/1815chronograph/

The 1815 chrono was my most recent purchase and had been looking at it for 2 years… all the color ways are nice. In the end I went with silver dial bc I thought it looked cleaner and was more legible, whereas I felt like sometimes the hands got lost in the black dial. I also think a lighter dial will be more versatile w straps. The boutique edition is nice, but I was drawn more towards the RG., which also Happened to be a better deal on the secondary market. Good luck w your choice!

it is not - that is an aftermarket bracelet by a jeweller named Wellendorff -apparently

My neighbor owned the white dial Boutique edition and it was beautiful in person. The blue and white made it a lot more friendly to blue, green and other alternative color straps. That said if you buy the black I'm sure you'd wear it just as much.

Get the white for the 1815 Chrono. Save the black option for when you add a Datograph :-)

No worries mate

But I was actually quite surprised with the finishing - it's actually quite sharp at the ends of the clasp. Has anyone else found this before

And not just Lange but I'm not a fan of the German-style 3/4 plate on top of the movement

Black dial for me. Ideally of course on the first gen Dato but you can’t go wrong with the 1815

White. I'd save black dial for rose gold piece.

I've owned both and I prefer the white. Looks clean and the blue print adds a lot of character. Dial almost looks porcelain. Also more legible.

In the end it is just personal preference and you can't go wrong with any 1815 chrono.

I don't think one would go wrong with any 1815 Chronograph. I opted for the 2nd generation pink gold silver dial version (I finally bought it from my AD when it was announced that it was discontinued, which I tend to do with expensive watches that I eye for years) but I think it depends on what you want to wear it with. The black dial version is great with either a black or tan strap (I personally don't like the bracelet) but I think the white dial is more versatile. I like the boutique version a lot but I wish it had blued rather than silver hands. If you want a dressy white metal version, the 2nd generation in white gold is my favorite.

I have the opportunity to buy the white boutique ed now, locally on the secondary, I just was previously sure I liked the black better.

its a large purchase for me - so considering holding off and searching for the black dial
