Tudor Big Rose gold egg experts out there?
Hi. I wonder if anyone is an afficiando of this watch and could tell me more about the model's history. It seems to have been an early transitional model with a short prduction run -- at least in the very smart gold capped on steel base version -- and i am keen to know your thoughts on my watch, whose dna seems to me to be obvious in certain modern Tudor dress watches and even the modern Rolex Skydwellers, if you put pictures of them side by side -- its uncanny. . Fascinating, a direct lineage from 1959 (?) to 2022. Regards, Pat.

It's a lovely watch, thanks for posting. To my eyes, it is very similar to a DJ of the period, so I'm not really seeing any particular connection with a modern SkyDweller, etc. beyond a general Rolex stylistic lineage.

OP, I saw this watch on eBay. That is the exact picture from the listing. Did you pick it up from there?
These were in line with the Rolex DateJust. Offered as a lesser price alternative to solid gold.

Hi there. Me again with MY watch... the other was a generic, randomly picked.
Sorry, I am not very technical and had trouble downloading images of my watch. Now, managed to do.
I think it looks quite handsome and now wear it daily in preference to my Rolex 18ct Precision dress watch, which is after all manually wound and also a bit more delicate looking for daily wear. (I do have a Tissot titanium for the real rough daily wear, lol) Do you like it? Its around when i was born, so i kinda see it as my 'birth watch.' |
