Grail opportunity

The sales associate informed me about an incoming DD40 olive dial yesterday. It was confirmed today. I didn't realize that I was on the waiting list for two years. I will be taking a look this weekend. What's the current retail price on this timepiece?

Just buy it at retail if you get the opportunity, I wouldn't hesitate for a second.

MSRP = $40350

WG or RG?

We got 2 RG in our family (one last year and one last week), this is the most gorgeous Rolex D-D.

Best looking DD out there.
I’d grab it at retail for sure.

Whether rose or white gold, that dial is absolutely exquisite.

It's hard to get so resale is quite profitable. Just keep it unworn or the offer goes way down. Also keeps it nice and unpolished for someone who wants to buy and wear it and can't get it from AD.

Or here's another thought. Buy it and wear & enjoy it. Strange, I know!

This is such a gorgeous piece. I've never seen one in person but I just love the color of the dial and those roman numerals and the way they play with lights are just mesmerizing. A fine blend of classic and modern design.

Yep, I surely would but I didn't get the opportunity, OP did, and he'd be a fool to pass whether he wanted it or not.

Why are you offering this kind of advice? Didn't realise the OP was asking about resale potential?

OP has stated he has an opportunity to buy a grail watch at retail, one he's been waiting on for two years and you are offering him advice on resale, profits, keeping it unworn and unpolished. Strange...

I figured retail meant open market since Rolex.com and all. Not really concerned about your opinion on what's strange. Post #3 "went there" already. Just letting him know he's in a great position and is a lucky guy.

It’s a “grail”, but only if market price is greater than retail?
Weak.

I figured AD since he was talking about waiting lists and SA's...

You know, you could've told him he is lucky without basically telling him he can flip it for a profit and offering advice on how to maximise those profits!

Maybe he just wants to buy it and actually wear it?

If you can afford to get it and still have food and roof, do it…
