Icon5 BLRO and a Proper Dress Watch

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a proper dress watch to accompany my BLRO (Sporty). I am not much into Rolex's Cellini line.

I have been researching the usual suspects (PP, VC, and AP).

I came across A. Lange Saxonia Thin 37mm that seemed amazing.

What is your favorite dress watch that you pair with your sporty rolex watches?

It depends on your budget as well but I went into the Lange boutique the other day and nothing really wowed me tbh and at the prices of those pieces I’d much rather get a Patel (USD40-70k)

And it depends if you want any complications, for annual calendars JLC have some v nice pieces. If you want a plain dress watch you can’t beat a white gold Calatrava with sword hands (modern dial, non sector)

If I were investing in a dress watch, I’d get this. Vacheron Constantin Tradtionelle. Lots of people will say Patek or Lange, but this is my favorite. I wouldn’t get yellow gold either. I’d get a white gold watch on a black leather strap.

I decided to get a Cellini Moonphase to complement my DSSD and Sub41. I’ve always wanted a slightly dressy watch, and like the thicker case compared to a traditional dress watch. Feels like a Daytona on a strap.

This is a solid choice. I'm quite happy with my Omega DeVille Trésor, but if I were ever to upgrade, this would be a great choice.

I would say PP 5227R/G will be my first dress pick. Tried a R it on the wrist last yr in my favor AD. Looked great and felt special. Since I already got my BLRO a month ago, it is about time to think about it again...

Patek 5196R is full of class and one of the few references that can still be had at a good price point.

This 100%

I’d also consider a Reverso if you’re into the case shape.

I would look at VC, PP, ALS and JLC. A lot of nice stuff there.
